LOS ANGELES:The Broken Remotes is built around singer/guitarist Jon Leahy and drummer Amy Wood. The group's first album, Throw Me The Keys, was recorded with producer Ronan Chris Murphy in 2003/2004 and released independently. Their very live-sounding debut spans the gulf between thoughtful alt-country (Lie In Wait) and exuberant punk (have a listen to the fuzzed out rave-up of the VU classic Pale Blue Eyes). But while the arrangements may be eclectic, the songs are bound together by Leahy's lyrics, which share common themes explored with empathy and wit. In 2005/2006 the band worked sporadically on material for their next release entitled Tonight's Last Stand, including the songs Lose the Swagger and Arms Held Aloft which were issued as a single, now available on iTunes.
