'26' are a band that think sincerity in music matters and would like to bring back a little bit of honesty to the music world.
My name is Nick O'Donnell. I write songs. I don't know where they come from but they come to me like a package that has been left on your front step. I try not to question it although sometimes I can’t help but wonder when the next one might come.
I call the group of people that now plays those songs '26'.
I believe in either hating an artist or having them change your life... I don't like the in between.
This is 45 minutes of my heart and soul packaged as 1's and 0's onto a circular plastic disc with a beautiful illustration by Andrew Fellows, 26 member and great piano player.
I hope you hate it or love it... I love it.
HISTORY
26 started around three years ago, when Brisbane-based band floodboy disbanded and Nick moved to Melbourne and started, what was at that time, his solo project. With the idea of recording a new album Nick kept himself busy writing everything you hear on the album, across Australia and the UK.
Eight songs later and a move back to Brisbane, Nick meets new workmate Drew, who mentions he's a keyboard player and this musical journey began. Two songs later, the newly titled album 'the king must die' has been completed and is in all good music store now.
26's lineup has been rounded off by long time friend and former Floodboy drummer Iain Wilson and fellow Star Wars geek Ross Duckworth on the Bass guitar.
26 have also started a Brisbane based record company ""Floodboy Records"" with friends from local band ""Sofa Mecca"". The Sofa Mecca album is also out now through Floodboy Records and we are looking at releasing some more fine Brisbane acts in the future.
