This song was written in limbo. The love of my life was done with me, and trying to move on, but we were still living under the same roof and I was holding out small hope we might yet patch things up, even though she had, as she put it, hardened her heart. I'd been here before in relationships. People feel they have to "harden their hearts" to protect themselves and marginalize you. I get it. But I also KNOW that true, unconditional love NEVER hardens its heart. The opposite. But that also takes someone who is safe, secure, and confident in who they are and how they feel; someone who loves themselves first. A rare thing indeed. So this was written as I was grieving my loss, but also wondering what was next and wanting to see if my life would start again. Hanging out in the "bomb shelter," waiting for my life to start again.

Waiting For My Life To Start
(Again)
©
2016 By David Nyro
V1:
I’m down here in the bomb shelter,
wond'ring if it’s safe to go outside
I’ve seen a lot of good folks going
down I’ve seen the casualties of pride
I know we’ve all got things we must hide
But it’s time to step outside
I’m waiting for the rising sun,
the starting gun, a sign to be my guide
I know we’ve all got different ways and destinies
The road is long and wide
Chorus:
I’m waiting for my life to start again
I’m waiting for my life to start again
I’m waiting for my life
V2:
I’ve never been particularly brave
But I never thought I was a slave
I was doing time inside my head,
Sentenced by the things that you said
Others came and added to my chain,
Forged in pain, they’re not to blame.
Deliver me from shame
I’m waiting for the birds to sing, to grab the ring
Someone to call my name
Chorus:
I’m waiting for my life to start
again
I’m waiting for my life to start again
I'm waiting
for my life
I’m down here in the bomb shelter
wond'ring if it’s safe to go outside
I’ve seen a lot of good folks going down
I’ve seen the casualties of pride
I know we’ve all got things we must hide
But it’s time to step outside
I'm waiting for the rising sun,
the starting gun, A sign to be my guide
I know we’ve all got different ways and destinies
The road is long and wide
Chorus:
I’m waiting for my life to start again
I’m waiting for my life to start again
I'm waiting for my life
