BOM Radio... The Blues Station Every night when I say my prayers I thank Moses Allison and Deford Bailey for their brillance.
Bare Thread III ... spend a day on the thread and kick back on "Parchman Farm" ...
Got Music? The old blues man Bukka White did time on Parchman Farm, still the maximum security lockup in Mississippi, and the inspiration for Mose Allison's up-beat jazz version that E covers here. E's portrayal of the brutish life there takes us a long, long way from Allison's playfully cool tune. Stripped down to E's measured voice, the tune's double-tracked upper- and lower-range harmonicas provide all the imagery you need to understand what was really behind Allison's lyric. Highly original effort (thh)
