The River
River, running on down now, just-a going on it’s way
Wind blows her silken fingers through my hair and across my face
Stories, they’ve been told and told again, but this time I’m going to make a new ending
‘Cause starting out right here right now, I’m gonna do it my way
And I know you’ve heard this all before, but it’s what I’ve got to say
Hey
Darkness, comes across the canyon
I’m standing in the midnight water just trying to touch the ground
Watchin’, the night unfolds before me
I don’t always like the mood it weaves, but I dare not make a sound
Well I’ve asked my questions to the moon, but I never got an answer
So still I keep on wondering what it means to be a man
‘Cause I remember when it felt so easy to stand all alone
But times have changed and the rains have washed my courage away
Hey
River, running on down now, just-a going on it’s way
Wind blows her silken fingers through my hair and across my face
Stories, they’ve been told and told again, but this time I’m going to make a new ending
‘Cause starting out right here right now, I’m gonna do it my way
And I know you’ve heard this all before, but it’s what I’ve got to say
Hey
