This song was the result- through the years of my teaching experience- of losing several students to illness, suicide and accidents of one sort or another. My latest loss was a gifted student of unbelievable talent and compassion. I wrestled with the should/shouldn't aspect of the topic involved but the song came to me none the less...probably for my own catharsis. I also felt the need to share it to raise awareness of the tremendous pressures kids are under today.

So Much Left to Say
By Terry Burdette 2007
You could have walked the halls of Harvard
but you preferred a field of grass
You studied Hendrix, Jesus, and Picasso
by a stream while you were cutting class
There was never enough hours in the day for you
life had so much to give
So you lived your life like there was no tomorrow
While we were tryin to show you how to live
Chorus:
How can we say goodbye
It feels like you just got here yesterday
How can we say goodbye
When your leaving us with so much left to say
So many questions scream from the silence in your bedroom
From the tears of those who watched you come undone
Neil Young sang about the needle and the damage ...30 years ago
Guess there's a little part of it in every generation
Chorus
