another guy who is trying to adapt as fast as the songwriting market has changed since I moved to Nashville in 1981. I am hoping to leave something for you to listen to here that might grab ya enough to stop by and talk a while! Terry
American Dreams A song I got from teaching American History this year. The west held so much promisd for so many!! TB
Taste of Heaven Co-wrote this song with Scotty Metro..kind of "dark Gospel" persisting towards the object of our affection in the face of many trials
So Much Left To Say This song was the result- through the years of my teaching experience- of losing several students to illness, suicide and accidents of one sort or another. My latest loss was a gifted student of unbelievable talent and compassion. I wrestled with the should/shouldn't aspect of the topic involved but the song came to me none the less...probably for my own catharsis. I also felt the need to share it to raise awareness of the tremendous pressures kids are under today.
Cruisin The Beach
Otis Boudreaux This song was a reponse to forcing animals to fight and die for our enjoyment... did not know that they practiced...shooting the losers, starvation, injecting drugs...When Mike Tyson bites off an ear in a fight..BOTH PARTIES WERE THERE BY CHOICE!!! nuff said
Geronimo's Ghost written while the drums of war were beating as we contemplated invading Iraq
Main Street
What I Feel A song that came from a couple of moments that packed some power to get my attention ...ALL OF IT...and take away my favorite bag of worries I like to drag around
10/31/2007 11:25:00 PM Hey, Terry, Just stopped by to say hello and give a listen. That Otis Boudreaux is one powerful song! Gonna have to start a new station to get that one up. I'm finding so much good music and don't want to have to cull what I have already. Maybe I'll move some around to get the action up on Pipeline and some extra plays for everyone by the curious. Thanks again for the compliments on our music. Coming from a fine musician, they are held in high regard. Hope all is well with you and yours in WV. Keep up the good work. If you decide to make it available for download, I'm happy to contribute to the cause. Peace, Mike
10/15/2007 8:36:59 PM Terry, I live in the Eastern Panhandle of WV just north of Martinsburg in Falling Waters. I grew up in D.C./Maryland but my wife was born and raised in Buckhannon, WV (Upshur County). We both love WV and decided to settle here, although I still work in D.C. -JP
10/13/2007 2:53:52 PM Terry, Thanks for dropping by my site and for your kind words. I really appreciate it. Nothing Special is a song that has some deep meaning for me on multiple levels. Glad you enjoyed. So Much Left to Say is a great tune. I added it to one of my stations. Stop by again sometime. Best to you, -JP Sharpe
10/12/2007 3:00:16 PM Thanks Terry! I play a rare Fender Acoustic/Electric DG-27SCE/N Cutaway! With Martin Folk Satin & Steel 11's. The "Ball & Chain" song was recorded with a loaner I borrowed from my Pop while the Fender was gently weeping with a broken string. It is actually a mini quitar but I thought it sounded ok. The strings had been on for a while. I appreciate ya coming back thru to check out my stuff. What do you play? You've got a great sound! Troy
10/10/2007 2:08:50 PM WOW! "So Much Left To Say" is brilliant. Thanks for sharing! Troy B.
