Thanks for coming by my page, and for congrats re the GKs and your kind words. I too am honoured to share the nomination stage with you and the other nominees, not only in the Best Male Artist category, but in all the categories. Just being nominated in any category by one’s peers is a win for each one of us in my books. Hopefully, the Golden Kayak Awards are an inspiration to all members to keep doing what they and we love doing – making music, regardless of awards. We can thank Scott for all the work he does in making the awards possible.
Yes, from time to time, we do seem to keep changing places on the Classic and Progressive Rock chart – you are a consummate Classic Rock artist, and yes, stiff, but great competition in that respect. We should be honoured that members see us and our music in that manner on the chart.
I actually give little, if any, thought to my transcending genres, pretty much because in my “early days”, so to speak, back in the late 1950s when I began writing songs, by that time I had lived on a steady diet of rock and roll, rockabilly and country, with a good measure of folk tossed into my music salad, thanks to my fellow countryman and woman – Ian and Sylvia, with their still great to this day song, “Four Strong Winds” – so I was then, and still am today comfortable in those genres.
Thanks for your remarks regarding my behind the scenes ‘non-technical’ work at IAC/IMP – I cannot take all the credit, I have had a lot of help and support, yours included – all a part of the camaraderie we all share , enjoy, learn and grow from here at IMP.
Wishing you all the best,

Hello there Richard! What a night this has been! All of my nominations for the "BIG 3" came away as the winners! WHITHERWARD for BEST BAND, FRANCESCA for BEST FEMALE ARTIST, and you for BEST MALE ARTIST! You are so deserving and I could not be more thrilled how things unfolded! I also nominated you for your win for WATER FROM A STONE in the CLASSIC AND PROGRESSIVE ROCK category. What thrills me about that, is that since I was a teen, that was always my favorite music genre. You probably know that THE MOODY BLUES finally made the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and will be inducted this spring. So sad that Ray Thomas died just 11 days ago, but happy he knew they finally made it. But this night belongs to you and the IMP artists! Early on you became one of my faves, not just because of your songs, but because of how kind and supportive you were to me and my station, i.e. your Pipeline post about it. 7 of my station artists won 15 of 16 GK's for which I nominated them, and 19 of the 26 overall. That blows my mind and makes me so happy! I need to start a new station and have several of your incredible songs in it. God bless you sir, and continued success to you! Mike
