Hey Duane. Got a chance to see Steely Dan and Michael McDonald in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. Outstanding. That was like visiting Meca for me! You would have loved the show. . . a good variety of old stuff and new. McDonald's band was great and he played the shit out of the piano during his set. Came out for about the last thirty minutes of Steely Dan's set and sat in. So much talent on the stage, it boggled the mind! Fagen was in a wild mood and really gave a great performance in his own wierd, hip way. Gonna see Jamie Cullum in Dallas in October. Ought to be great. By the way, I'm really diggin a new album I ordered from a great old San Francisco band I'll bet you're familiar with.... The Sons of Champlin. It really kicks ass--Hip Lil Dreams. Have you been giggin? Drop me a line mate. Phil

Oh. One final note on the cover experiment. Don't let that stop you from continuing to write your own stuff. People always react to the familiar. It's a jerk knee reaction. I can't count the number of times people yelled out their favorite rock band while we were trying to do one of our original tunes live. . . usually with a little jazz flavor. I remember one note that was passed to the band that said," Enough of the outer space crap! Play some real music." Outer space crap was a running joke in the bank from then on. Chow!!
