Starcina is a Studio band within the Sound for Film company, 'Starcina Music Group' formerly Starcina Production-founded by Nick Stargu Sr. ( composer, pianist, organist, orchestral & vocals ) and long time partner, Vocalist Nancy Trecina. Also, Frank DeChichio ( Drummer/composer) & Steve Sossin (Producer/Engineer/composer)

Interesting facts about Starcina the Studio Band....
· Songs aren’t ‘pre-planned’ in advance.. We wing it all from start to finish in the initial creation of an idea. Average recording time from creation to Master is a mere 60 minutes! 90 minutes if there's a LOT of Production!
· The particular writer of a song often completes the song outline-sometimes often in a few minutes!
· All melodic instruments/vocals are then added track by track. Bass guitar is recorded
· Completed outlines are sent to everyone where Nick & Frank break the song down and arrange their parts. Frank is meticulous!
· Steve ( our Producer ) & Frank discuss which drum ‘takes’ to use. Often- it's the first!! Frank who has a vast music background gives a lot of 'input' in the Studio.
· Nick actually plays all his instrumental parts totally by feel,
often in a single take with little or no pre-planning! If he does 3 takes- they're ALL great & it's hard to pick which one to use!
· Nick actually plays all solo’s w/o any arpeggiators or sequencers! Try that!
· Steve’s ‘trademarks’ are his ‘harmonizing’ solo’s, often using
odd harmonies and ‘winging’ all solo’s with no ‘pre-planning’.. He doesn't 'write' a solo in advance & can come up with one pretty quickly, then track any harmonies preferring the 'sound' of REAL harmonies rather than digitally matched- preset or programmed.
· Steve is often ‘subtle’ in backing guitar tracks, often using a
combination of several tracks with differing tones to achieve a certain ‘feel’ (sound)..
· Nick is an expert orchestrator! Listen to his harmonizing violins
in the intro of ‘Touching Me’ (coming soon! ).. He is an amazing pianist,cellist, violinist- awesome on the B-3 organ ( a lost art these days! )as well as good old fashioned synth! And a world-class singer as heard on ‘Shadow In Time' among other songs…
· Steve does not use a ‘whammy bar’ but is an expert at ‘note bending’ w/vibrato done manually. He is fluent in virtually all playing styles and never practices! He strives for 'uniqueness' and definitely doesn't 'follow the crowd'.
· Frank has several drum sets at home but uses one particular set that is kept at The Studio. Frank has played virtually every kind of music there is & at an ultra professional level. Frank is instrumental in the 'direction' a song might take & often co-produces.
· Steve often uses ‘odd’ time signatures that may change during a song-such as a ‘delayed’ or ‘cascaded’ timing ( always to a click track ) which he swears that Frank is the only drummer he’s ever worked with who can tie it all together!
· We use few or no ‘standardized’ song formulas as most of our songs- while certainly marketable as shown in their popularity in this venue, are geared towards being used in a Movie Soundtrack. ‘Starcina’ being the 'Studio Band' for the Sound for Film entity, Starcina Music Group.
· On the song ‘Slipped Right Thru My Hands’ you’ll hear the incredible soloing by Nick on the B-3 Organ ( coming out ascending immediately after Steve's incredible descending guitar soloing! ) And some world-class Grand piano and those sweet ‘strings’ that mirror Steve’s incredible harmonizing guitars the last minute ( all done for real- no ‘harmonizers’.. ) Franks drums are ALWAYS the heartbeat.. and 'anchor' extraordinaire! Nick, Frank & Steve as a 3-piece group. The rest is history!
