I just listened to your song "Lioness"-I had never heard it before and was totally blown away. It is beautifully written and performed. I want to hear it over and over again.

All is well with you I hope. I have been doing open mics with my garage band and with the acoustic duo/trio-it's been a lot of fun.

Jeff Lustick

7/20/2011 2:09:17 PM

JP,

I've been away from here for a while too as evidenced by the fact that I just saw your message on my page. I am still playing with two different groups though one has slowed down over the summer. Have been doing some acoustic open mics both with one or two others and by myself-it's been fun.

I look forward to hearing your new songs and how you've redone some old ones. Your music keeps coming up on my I-POD by the way. I am actually on my way out now but will be back to listen as soon as I can.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

JP,

Just stopped by to say hi and see how everything is with you. We have survived winter in the northeast and if the rain ever stops we might actually have a spring!!!!

I've been playing with my garage band and also connected with two other people to do some acoustic stuff. We played a couple open mics and hopefully will continue to do that. I even snuck in a couple originals at one of them. It's been fun. Doing some writing-put one or two on my page in the recent past but I;m actually spending more time playing than writing right now.

What's with you? Are you doing much writing/playing??? Hope all is well with you and your family.

No problem-just wanted to make sure it didn'y get lost in the mail. Will you get to take any tome off when your kids are off??? I am on vacation next week also since I work in a school district.

The band is still playing away. I would love to play out someplace just for fun but I can't seem to sell them on that yet. I actually am still looking for someone who might want to do some acoustic stuff and maybe do some open mics or something. I am doing a little writing but am still mostly playing and recording a lot of other people's songs that I have liked over the years ranging from Leonard Cohen to Tim Hardin to the Bee Gees to the Who, the Wallflowers, Tom Petty, Dylan and alot of stuff inbetween. I am actually having a good time with this and it brings back alot of memories from when I first heard all that stuff.

I hope you and your family have a great holiday.

2/15/2010 5:44:56 PM

JP,

I will absolutely check out your videos on You Tube!!!! Glad you liked the Townes book-he was definitely an intriguing figure and I love listening to and playing his music. I agree that reading a book like that does help to understand where a lot of the songs came from.

I have been doing some writing bit haven't really finished anything in along time. I have been spending a lot of time playing and recording other people's music- songs that I have always liked and just wanted to do my own versions of-ranging from Phil Ochs to the Marshall Tucker Band to the Bee Gees to Tom Paxton and on and on and I am still gett ing together with the same 3 people and playing a lot of electric classic rock and blues stuff. I am also trying to learn to use Pro Tools-a daunting task for someone as technologically limited as I am!!!! So I'm having a good time with that but am a little frustrated that I haven't completed any new stuff of my own.

Hope all is well with you. I see you have another CD listed on your page here-I am going to listen to and get that for sure!!!!

JP,

All is well on this end-thanks for checking in. I have been spending time recovering from my shoulder surgery but am now able to play guitar again. YAY!!!!!! I have spent very little time lately writing but have found myself playing a lot of "old" stuff-folk songs, Dylan, Phil Ochs etc-the music that first got me interested in playing guitar. I have really had a good time listening to and recording a lot of those songs-it has brought back a lot of memories.I actually just finished uploading a cover of "Till I Gain Control Again" which is a song written by Rodney Crowell- it is one of the songs I recirded over the summer. I am also still playing with my "band" and we have also been having a good time playing a lot of classic rock and blues.

How is everything with you?? I haven't actually been on my IAC site much recently but will start checking back in again. I think there are some songs on your page I haven't heard before so I will absolutely be back to listen.
Hope all is well with you-are you doing much writing/playing???

JP,

I am not really sure what my administration page is but if it is the first page I see when I log on then I see nothing that indicates any of my songs have been purchased. If that is not the right page, I am not sure how I find it. If you want you can also go to http://www.mp3.com/artist/jeff-lustick/songs to download any of my original songs for free. If that doesn't work I can give you another site. That still does not solve the problem of you being charged for the songs on IAC however. I honestly think you might be the first person who has tried to do that (ah well there goes my status as a major force in the songwriting business...) so I've never dealt with this before on this site. Please let me know if this gets resolved or if there is anything I can do to help the process.

I hope you had peaceful and relaxing holidays. I will wait to hear from you about progress on the song. I have no time frame in mind so just let me know when you can.

We have been getting clobbered with snow and ice storms here so as soon as I am done here I get to go shovel several more inches of snow off my driveway. Oh boy!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by. We're keeping things slow and steady....making progress recording our next batch of noise. You and IAC will be first in line, of course, once we get our collective butt in gear. On a personal note, this year has been real busy what with the Hoolios releasing two CDs and the Rivergods making arrangements for our next. Three bands and a day gig have reduced my online presence to a bare minimum.
Here's hoping the Holidays have been good to you and yours and the fellas and I extend our best to you for a most rewarding New Year!

Phlegm

12/12/2008 3:41:24 AM

JP Here's my latest thoughts on the honour of getting to do a cover of your tune:

I'm gonna try and get TODD, of HOP on POP, who is now a phan of phlegm, to do the guitar work and backing vocals/ chorus
and ME and my drummer will lay down the bass, DRUMS and VOCALS....

I WANT it to take the opening licks from your original for a couple of measures, as an INTRO.... An actual SAMPLE of YOU playing.

OR we could do a NEW version with you playing the mellower, folksy/blues intro. LIVE NOW but I think it would make your original that much more relevant if we include a sample from the intro to your actual song. Another idea Use a great lead part of your original song as an intro (that would remind them of your tune). I want to cover it with my & TODD's unique punk/blues/folk stylin', but STILL give a kiss to the original, wonderful tune you wrote.

WHADAYA THINK? I think we could make it KILLER. GO right into FAST PUNK riffs for a measure of two, and THEN start in with the vocals. OF COURSE, we have to give TODD a few leads too, but YOU should have a LEAD and if you wish a VOCAL too....

I know you're busy like us all. Get back to me when you can and I'll post a comment to TODD, on his HOP ON POP page, hookay?

Thanks or how cool you've been to me on IAC!

EXCITED about this project, and a chance to promote YOUR & my own style at the same time.... -pHLeGm

In any event JP, I just want you to know that your words, support and encouragement are most appreciated and are very special to myself and the band. As an artist, I know that you understand what a wonderful and fulfilling feeling it is when you know that your music has touched someone in some way. OKAY. I think I've proved I dig your music, and especially LOVE "used to be cool back in High School bluez..." WELCOME to my latest fiasco - PHIFTY PHLEGM PHAVORITES.

Let's open a dialog about some NEXT steps for doin' this cover/collaboration thingee.....

It's YOUR great tune, so I'll have to acquiesse to YOUR better judgement... BUT I'm thinkin' a punky - blues -ROCK thingee....

Let me know if you've got a guitarist & drummer for THAT pacing. IF NOT I'm sure we can enlist somebody up in here on IAC!

GO FOR the GOLD, eh? How 'bout TODD of HOP on POP, HUGH Hamilton or somebody of your choosing on GUITAR and then TRY to get SUPERPuss for DRUMS??

HUH?? Pretty nifty ideas right? Just let me know man.

HOPE life & music are treatin' you well. ROCK On.

I'm still serious about doin' a cover of "Used to be Cool back in High School Blues", if you're down. Just not sure the best way to go about it... Since I'm a bass player/singer, it would require yourself or another guitar player to do it up right.

Let me know some ideas, and we shall proceed from that point, if you are STILL embracing the idea.

And rock on my good man. -pHLeGm

Hi Patrick, when were you in Boston?

Village Jammers

9/1/2008 7:13:21 PM

Howdy, J.P.-
Thanks for the check-up, my friend....all is well, albeit real busy with the day gig and a consistent four band performance rotation keeping the schedule pretty full over the summer. Just a little too pooped to maintain a larger presence here at IAC. No complaints here, though, "bop til ya drop", right?
I see you have some fresh tuneage up? Very cool....mind the muses lest they tease another, bro.
Chances are once the weather cools a bit (and the elections are done), I'll be cozyin' up to the computer a little more often.
Be well and keep rockin'.

I love your song "Used To Be Cool In High School". That could be a hit for sure.
My song; Texas Rendevouz Cafe is # 24 in that genre. (Blues) It's instrumental but I think I should write words for it. I never dreamed it would be this popular as an instrumental.

JP,

I attempted to order your CD through IAC but just received an e-mail from them saying that my order was cancelled because the CD is out of stock and they couldn't send me one. Boo-Hoo for me. My question to you is do you have any extras that I could buy directly from you. I would really like to get one if it's at all possible. Let me know.

Thanks,

Did I forget to mention your vocals remind me of LOU REED (back when he was in VELVET Underground) & Bob Dylan BOTH TWO of my idols.

MAN..... I would LOVE to cover one of your tunes, with your approval....

Think about it man! Helps us BOTH - You're great writing & my wacky boo-schnackity voice over top? My IDOL dream would be to TRACK it out, and to avoid tryin' to find musicians in TUCSON to do the instruments I can't play. Just have you do it. Than I ship an MP3 that has it with the VOCALS overlaid? Err... or somethin' like that. Whaddya think JP? -phlegm

Patrick,

Thank you for the beautiful comment you left on my IAC page and for your interest in my music. I have been a Townes fan since I "discovered" him when I was in college and I still love his music to this day.

I spent a long time this afternoon listening to your songs. You are an incredibly talented and prolific writer and performer in my opinion. The more I listened the more I could hear the influence od people like Townes Van Zandt on your musical style. I will be back here

LOTS more to continue to listen you can be sure of that!!!!!

Thank you J. Patrick for your kind words and your time to listen. I was quite impressed with the amount of songs on your page. I sent you a tag message but as I'm new to the scene I'm still learning how it all works. I will have two albums of songs coming out next week which I will sell through the folk clubs I play at here in Devon in SW England. I have a myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/richardflanagan where further songs can be accessed but I am still undecided on becoming a paid member of IAC. Anyway thanks for your friendship and I hope to check out your songs in more detail later in the week.

Be well
