A Message From Heathers Mom
The mother of Heather Heyer, the young woman who was brutally killed by a white supremacist maniac in Charlottesville over the weekend, gave a powerful eulogy at her daughter's memorial service that called on all of us to take responsibility for confronting the hate rising in our country right now, and ended with this call to action:

"So, remember in your heart, if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. And I want you to pay attention, find what's wrong, don't ignore it, don't look the other way, you make a point to look at it, and say to yourself, what can I do to make a difference? And that's how you're going to make my child's death worthwhile. I'd rather have my child, but by golly, if I got to give her up, we're going to make it count."

So those of you on social media who frown upon those of us who are vocal about social justice and political issues I want you to consider this--change requires action. The civil right's movement was just that--a movement. People moved to action to really make America great.
