Steve Ison Reviews..
Delightful, witty cajun-style folk song about a mischeivous Hindu God 'answering' George Bushes prayers to come to him for assistance but..ahem..not being QUITE the face of the almighty the brainless murderer had in mind ..If only it would come true!....Of course all the lyrical inventivness in the world would mean little to me if it wasn't set to such a fabulous picked-out-the-air jewel of a tune..Given a wonderfully authentic live 30s/40s style lo-fi field recording with beautiful banjo and an ace chord changing melodica riff..This is genuinelly timeless music and beautifully atmospheric..Joyful,happy/sad,familiar/strange and incredibly evocative all at the same time.A perfect add to my Psychfolk station then..Altho many would say there's nothing particularly 'psychedelic' about this traditionally structured folk song,i'd disagree..For me,the true spirit of psychedelia isn't in the extraneous, intentionally 'weird' echoey sound accessories, but in the genuinelly transcendent, consciousness shifting nature at the heart of a song..This is MY idea of 'Psychfolk' then......Wow,the last 3 songs i've reviewed here have been ace...Indies really are the best...

Psyche Folk
Genuinelly timeless and beautifully atmospheric banjo led cajun folk song..Joyful,happy/sad,familiar/strange and incredibly evocative all at the same time...Altho many would say there's nothing particularly 'psychedelic' about this traditionally structured folk song,i'd disagree..For me,the true spirit of psychedelia isn't in the extraneous, intentionally 'weird' echoey sound accessories artists add,but in the genuinelly transcendent, consciousness shifting nature at the heart of a song..This is certainly MY idea of 'Psychfolk' then...

The Talent Searcher
One of the more talented, challenging, reative and funny bands at IAC. They have roots in traditional music but mixed it with whatever come to their minds.Listen to this song and if in one day the word hanuman does not come to your mind you have not listened to the whole song. Great and brave band .

From the Cradle to the Grave
John and Wes seem to like songs about animals, even divine ones.

Anarchists
I lived in PA for a bit and West Virginia, quite people (until it was time to tell stories and light a fire). I love how you mix different messages from East and West here, very non-traditional, yet organic.

The Hitmen-Completed Contracts 3
Delightful lofi banjo led story song with bags of individual personality...Witty,charming,happy-sad,whimsical and funny in equal measures .Creating so much timeless atmosphere from a couple of instruments and a few well chosen chords.Has such a great spirit, you could really picture this fitting right into a Coen Brothers movie(probarbly Oh Brother Where Art Thou lol)

Music the Gods Like
WHOA!!!!!!

So Many Fantastic Colours
I have to plead 'guity' to using this tune in a few stations. That should give you a clue as to how infectious this relatively 'lo-fi' recording is. The lyrics are witty, the tune is catchy and if you DON'T find yourself singing along (or even singing it in some subconcious moment, then you have no business listening to it in the first place.
