Billy Halterman is the leader of the Wild South Band. Billy's style reflects the heart of country music, evocative of an era long before his time. Billy, growing up no stranger to country music in rural Polk County, FL developed a passion for the sounds of such artists as George Strait, Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, and many more from the era of classic country giving Billy’s music an influence firmly rooted in that traditional country sound.

While taking his inspiration from traditional country, Billy seamlessly blends classic and today’s country into one exciting show. As one of Nashville’s most talented newcomers, Billy delivers country music that speaks to the hearts of old and new fans alike. One phrase constantly heard by the fans at Billy’s show is ‘That’s the way country music is supposed to sound!’ Billy's interest in music came at an early age and with his natural singing ability, it was only a matter of time before he picked up the art of singing country music. Billy began to seriously follow the career of his idol and hero, George Strait and to this day you can still hear a little bit of George Strait's inspiration in Billy's voice.

At age 17 Billy set off for Nashville for the first time, and as intimidating as it was Billy drove on and recorded his very first full production demo. From that point on Billy's career has been full of ups and downs. To date Billy has performed at hundreds of shows, made television appearances, performed for charity organizations, and was a regular act at the world famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee. Today Billy lives in Orlando, Fl. dividing his time between Nashville, and home. Billy is currently working in the studio recording a brand new album. If you are ever in Florida there is a good chance that you can catch Billy performing at many of the venues in the Central Florida area. Billy works with many of the local radio stations and performs regularly at different events throughout the year for them. He also stays involved with such charities as the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross. Also, if you happen to be Nashville be sure to drop by the world famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge, whenever Billy is in town, he always stops by to pick out some songs
