It's not about contracts, glitz, magazine covers or production... just the music, HISTORY Welcome to our page . My name is Rob Barrer originally from Christchurch New Zealand. In 1957 I had my first guitar lesson aged 9 years, at the Elaine Moody school of Music, under the Majestic Theatre in downtown Christchurchs High Street. Elaine Moody was a dear sweet old lady and the first song I learned was Rock Island Line-which was on the hit charts of that time-That girl was a Rock n Roll Granny of high calibre.. After a few months when I began Bar Chords she handed me over to her top pupil Tommy Kahi who went on to become CHCHs best Guitar player/ entertainer playing mostly American Cover Songs with his band.I was hooked-I formed my first band in which I was the only one who could play or sing, That was OK back then. Since then I have learned from every Muso I jammed or played with probably in the late hundreds-many of whom made it in the industry both in Kiwiland and Australia. Music has been a huge blessing in my life and two of my sons have gone on to become Singer songwriters in their own right. I am currently working on my final Country/ Blues /Folk Album which is named Come Hell or High Water- Since 2006 my two sons had been playing some great music for a few years with their talented friends and began home recording. Both Jake and Leo were writing many tunes and INDIE MUSIC was HOT. I began this site to gain some audience and to share ideas with some of the fine Musos already established and having success. In 2007 three of their songs were nominated for Golden Kayaks which were for the best song / tune in various Genres. WOW we were blown away by winning all 3 Awards and getting heaps of hits online. Now in 2020 we have had 180,000 plays plus made many friends and had several number ones and this is still our favorite INDIE site-There are more songs written during Lockdown from Covid 19 yet to be recorded- Unique, Imaginative and Alternative family and friends who play live in Marlborough Nelson. West Coast. The haters at least are a minority and will now be watched closely by the police I hope! It's tragic so many people had to die for us to see that we are not safe from terrorism.
