Wow hello Duane

Well it has been an education having cancer.I am feeling great, and ready to return and put some energy into music and IMP. Your latest song was amazing and started to peak my interest, then I visited Bryons You Tube and was blown away. We are living in a new place (sold the farm) and the boys are both playing live. Let the next chapter evolve. Love to Terri.

Kia ora Rob thanks for your message, its been a while so nice to be loading my new album on to IAC and see my songs being played. Yes scary stuff what happened in Christchurch! Hi Rob,

Glad to hear you are on the mend. I've been having some health issues as well and since my mom passed I've been more conscious of trying to make the most of everyday.
BTW ~ I thought I heard vocals on your song Epitaph about half way through!! But in any case it's a beautiful composition that we both enjoy very much. Maybe I imagined the vocals. It wouldn't be the first time!

Hi Rob,

You have been sorely missed on the recent topics page. Once you find it, you must "bookmark it" or add it to your "favorites list" or whatever. Then you just have to click on it and totally bypass the pipeline. Click on "forums" and then go down to New Topics and click on "updated topics". That will take you directly to the blogs. I look forward to you joining the discussions again! BTW ~ I bookmark (that's an Apple term) maybe you call it a Favorite (pc term) but either way, life is so much easier when you bookmark your artist page, your radio stations, your admin page, the recent topics page, etc. Why hassle with the pipeline? I even bookmark the pipeline page!

Peace
Rich

Rob, thanks so much for featuring the Greed Video on Warriors for Change! Just color me digitally challenged as far as the MP3 of Greed is concerned. Warriors for Change was the first station to add that tune from our new release back in March - I was psyched beyond belief and posted the link everywhere in site. So I never realized when I replaced the song with a video on our page, then the MP3 would disappear everywhere on IAC haha - I just put it back on the Shoe City page though and I'm psyched it will back on Warriors - I love that station.

Also thanks for putting Escondido up on the Indie Spirit station.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your post a few days back. Sorry that I am not always able to make prompt return replies as I seem to have less available time on my hands than I did some few months ago.

As for the Christchurch quake situation, all of your many friends here at IAC including Paula and myself and the guys in the band are glad to know that all is as well as can be expected under the circumstances for your family. We have family friends in Christchurch who keep us posted on the bleak future that the ongoing series of quakes is wreaking on the devastated city. From where we sit it is hard to fathom what the folks there are going through and the uncertainty lies ahead.

Just know that our thoughts are with you and your family and at the end of the day may the spirit of friendship and the community of music that surrounds you be healing, hopeful and comforting.

Peace,

Neil, Paula and the band

Many thanks for your kind words and valued support and trust which is respected and appreciated far more than words can say.

Notwithstanding the challenge and responsibilities that lie ahead and further to my efforts in my new role to push onward and forward with the best interests of all current and future artist/members at IAC as my guiding principle, at the beginning and end of each day I shall remain “one of us” and will be proud and honoured to always be so.

Thinking of you and your family and the people of Christchurch during this time of great tragedy and loss.

Hi Rob,
I cannot tell you how relieved I was to read that you and your family are OK. This terrible hearth quake brought back all the memories of the one that struck L'Aquila in 2009. I have been to Christchurch more than once and to see the pictures on TV just breaks my heart. This tragedies remind us of how frail humans are. With all our technology we are no better equipped to predict disasters like this than the inhabitants of Pompei were, when Vesuvio erupted.

Keep safe, my thoughts are with the people of Christchurch.

Well Rob,

I think that ChCh will recover a lot better than my home town, thanks to the spirit of thee NZ people. My sister tells me that the historic part of L'Aquila (my home town) is still closed, and nothing as been done to the beautiful ancient structures. To make matters worse the temporary timber supports that were put in place soon after the quake are rotting away.....I get the impression that once L'Aquila was not a main news item anymore, the prime minister Berlusconi lost interest!!

Anyway, I look forward to hearing your new Hi-Hat in some of your music!! I am still trying to learn the guitar, I think I am getting there but very very slowly!

It's hard to tell from the write-up if the show will be structured in a way that a bunch of IACers can descend on the place and get together. I have always thought IAC should sponsor an event/concert that provides everyone with a chance to meet in person and celebrate great independent music (almost like our own music festival!). If it is real I would definitely be interested in attending and meeting all the wonderful artists from IAC- especially the regulars (like you) that I have met and come to know through their music.

The driftwood art just keeps getting more evocative and sculptural beachcomber. Art and chaos, modern life, to take some driftwood and bring back to life. To make a stand in art against the violence and cruelty, fear and greed. Maybe

"We both arrived here not so much as refugees from the fear and violence of western life but rather as flotsam and jetsam, washed up, relics connected in some way to a past and violent trauma, waiting for the beachcomber to find us and give us meaning"

Hey Rob!
I'm going to try to play a few songs (if I can) at the conference. But I really think meeting you would be the highlight of the weekend. I'm taking a few days vacation. I may be there for a week (7th-12th).
Thanks for adding my tune Fate. I'll return the flavor to ewe!

Peace,

Thanks Rob, It is alway nice to hear from you guys. I wish you the very best in the music world...I can't tell you how much I miss my band and how much I miss not playing live. I started again with an open mic in New York on the 6th of April and I was amazed at the response. I did two songs at a Seminar in Sydney on the 10th of May and I plan to do a lot more of whatever comes live from now on. If you are ever down under in Sydney come and say Hi and I will cook some Italian for you!!!

Ciao,

Vincenzo

Hey guys...just wanted to stop by and take it all in. Very organic, pure and of course, very enjoyable! Also wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support and kindness...I may lay off the blogging for a while as some people go a little too far and read WAY into things...it's actually pretty humorous that so much time is spent knocking people down...maybe I should be flattered?? lol... In any event, keep up the great work as I do enjoy your artistry!!

Hi Matey

That was a very kind offer ( a collab) ewe know I have never tried doing this b4 -but if it were to happen I reckon you would be the one-i have just been playing "Mama Tried" (grateful dead) and I reckon our two salty smokey voices could do it justicebut i don't know about paying royalties and such- maybe we could write a similar type of tune, that was still original -just a thought??

Thanks for your support from way backhope you and the clan have a gangbusters of an Xmas and New Year-we are playing new years eve down in the Marlborough sounds-amid boats and beaches !!

lol ... now my blog link doesn't work. I'm a bad boy ... but I only meant good, seriously. I get better hits daily on my business sites ... but I do advertise locally, and I'm well known in this area. That'll bring traffic alone. Yet, what I said was true. I don't advertise traffic unless it's something to advertise.

I knew it was to be deleted. I think it was up for less than two minutes. They still should have the feedback.

I've told Bry to remix his new song, and never mind my experience, he is JUST starting to listen ... because the increase in his age correlates with the increase in my IQ, evidently. Kids, they think they know everything. We've survived happily this long because we're stupid, right? :^D

Top level commercial M.E.'s can command thousands of dollars per album, Rob ...

I once contacted Bob Ludwig's outfit because it was local to my Maine property, and I was interested in what their going rate was. I believe one of their STAFF mastering engineers had a rate of about $350/song. I had a couple back and forth emails w/ the guy, and he was very nice, but that's too rich for my blood. (Mr. Ludwig's rate was quite a bit more than that btw ...)

OTOH, you can find very competent master on the web from some well known folks for quite a bit less. I do not know the Bulgarian gentleman you mentioned, but if you like his work, then that's a start.

Beware there are a LOT of guys out there w/ a couple digital plug ins and a set of cheap speakers that advertise themselves as Mastering Engineers. These are the people you should avoid.

At the very least, ask to see a list of satisfied clients or references, and some pictures of their studio/setup. I personally feel more comfortable w/ someone who maintains a website, has pictures, testimonials and a gear list.

You can get an album done on the cheap for about $350 USD ... with say, one pass for levels and quick adjustments. MOST good people will do one for about $750 roughly ... and anyone that's less than $350 is probably the in his bedroom w/ his Sony Sound Forge.

Hope this helps!

"...so I ended up tying it to my stool!!" LOL !! The show must go on! Reminds me of the night some friends and I opened a Marshall Tucker Band show at a local watering hole. I used my woefully underpowered Ampeg fliptop bass amp (to which I had affixed a pair of those lean-back legs that Fender uses). I had no idea the thing was walking in circles 'til I felt it humping my leg. Still worth a good laugh.

Hey Mate,
Thanks for adding Water from A Stone to your Fame and Glory station! No need to be envious of my Classic Rock stats. Think of my successes as yours and I'll think yours as mine. I an't got no Golden Kayak but I'm glad that you have one. Looks like nobody will ever have that honor again if the powers that be continue to not want to have the awards. But that's show biz.

You are the king of stations! Of the 112 that play my songs you probably own half of them! (I was on all of Ray's stations until his ship sailed from IAC, so I lost all of those)

Keep up the good work, my friend and thanks for all your support.
We're in the same boat, so full speed ahead! Remember what Johnny Lennon said: "To the toppermost of the poppermost!"

Peace,
Rich

oh wow, rob, i didn't realize you had birthdays - i was under the influence based upon the wisdom within your lyrics that you we're timeless brother. However, I do indeed hope that at this late arrival my birthday wish for you conjurs up memories of how fun it was for you - Happy Birthday!!!!!

Meanwhile, good news on the 2010 gig - definately turning more ears our way at local dept of commerce - it seems the what's good for the goose is good for the gander argument is paying off in that no official local government agency wants to appear un fair right now - whew, mabe a wind of change is blowing in this great land once again, as well as, a couple of other big property owners are now tossing gossip around about who's going to wind up being the "lucky" one who catches this deal - kinda nice to hear at this stage in the development process and many other tidbits to mention here at your page that all seem like a green light to me. and as if all this wasn't cool enough, Tommy, my brother, is on the freakin wagon!!!!

Twas just a matter of getting him something "worthy" to smoke!!! friggen premadonna!!! ha ha - so as we say in these parts - "all's well here friend"

Gotta go stoke the fire -

cheers,

Vincenzo Pandolfi

Thank you Kia for adding Casa Mia. This is probably my most tragic song, although fortunately does not relate to factual events. In a way is a love song I wrote back in 1971. It basically portrays a man's desperations when his adored wife dies giving birth.

My saddest song is probably An angel told me. This is about a couple I knew from walking our dogs in the park. He was a terrific young man who dropped dead one morning on the way from the Gym. They had a very young child and his wife was pregnant with their second one. I wrote the song for her about the time of the second child's birth, but I never gave it to her.

Ciao,

Vincenzo

Hey Rob,
I played some of your songs for Scott Kirby, he's a great writer over here in one of my bands... Quantum Placet..
He writes along the same style as you guys... he LOVED the tracks!!! Him and I want to know if we can cover one over here with him on it and send to you.. just for fun...
We were thinking The Nobody... you good with that?
As a trade, Scott and I want to record one of his songs here.. guitar and vox only and send you the track.. we want YOU GUYS to jam on it!!! Sound cool? Again, just for fun...
We have a dream... we'd love to come to NZ one day and either do Scott's solo record with you and the team OR bring his band and do a future QP record in your studio!!! It's all about cash, ya know!!!
Would you have us???
You guys come to NY and I'll return you the favor in my studio!!!
Deal??? LOL!!!
Anyway, let me know about all this... maybe a MySpace (ooohh, bad word here) message would be better...
Peace, Kenny

Thanks for stopping by the station, following the link, and commenting at my page, Robbie...I share your revulsion at that multi-faceted story, and figure the truth must generally be faced, like it or not...seems the ultimate unfair insult to coerce folks to keep that kind of experience bottled up inside (though the one possible mitigating circumstance is the effort to keep "escape and evasion techniques" private...still...seems like a disservice and a mistake to me. Pleased to link your fine tune with the story - food for thought...

Thanks for stopping in Rob ... it's always a pleasure to hear from you my friend ... and thank you for your kind words - always uplifting, encouraging and straight from the heart - truly words from a friend.

And thank you for bringing to my attention a blog about moi that you say Hugh wrote a while ago. Unfortunately I have been hit and miss here at IAC for a few months due to an overload of other things on my plate over the late summer and fall, and unless my memory is beginning to fail (which at my age you know is a big risk ... lol), I do believe that I may have overlooked seeing the blog and as such feel neglectful at having let it slip through the cracks without having responded. I must write to Hugh to apologize. Perhaps too if Hugh still has it in the blog section on his admin page, or a link to it, I might be able to twist his arm to let me catch up to it and to thank him.

Thanks also Rob for the warm play on words of one of the song titles of my famous countryman - a legend in his own time and an artist and performer for whom I have the greatest respect. It was a heartwarming touch to your comment. Long may we all run!!!

Peace to you and all of the Silverwood crew.

Now that I know how to shut off the streaming player, I will check out indivdual songs that will inspire me to write music to the words I have written about Sliverwood. I want to write music that will exemplfiy the essence of your sound

Hi My Friend Richard-!!

So much to learn -So little time ha ha -lol

My wife has made the same observation-we tend to think everyone knows how these little "players" operate-

eitherfind the embedded player ( near the top of site) and turn it off by clicking the black square

then play the individual track from the page-

or-find the player, and click a different song title-to the one currently playing

did I say thanks for visiting?

Thanks Mate!!

Richard Scotti

10/13/2008 3:21:01 PM

I've been trying to listen to individual songs but can not do so because all the songs are already playing. If I try to listen to a certain song and click on it it plays while the other songs are playing. How can I just listen to certain songs of my own choosing without the other songs playing a the same time?

I've been humming "The Wave" for a couple days now. It's a great add for Chuck's Children. I just saw Chuck Berry perform about a week ago, still has that rock and roll spirit. If ya notice the picture on the station, we had opened for him earlier, so that shot was taken in the dressing room after his performance. Keep on putting out your great music.

I was thinking about taking 'Frustration' down having used it as
a political 'TOOL', just to say AAAArrrrrgggggghhhhhh! and now
it is added to Silverwoods LiveT50, so will leave it up for a while!

How is your 'Summer' progressing? Ours has been 'PANTS'

Stay Well!

Hi I had tendonitis in my ring fingera, called trigger finger, from trying to do Chuck Berry by the headstock and pushing myself and it got so bad I could not move the finger. I took these herbs from www.tendonitisrelief.com and I swear they really helped me get better faster..all natural capsules that helped with the inflammation. Docs told me tape the fingers don't use them at all which would have made me very unhappy and I was in a guitar class at Passim at the time so what I did was practiced guitar only 10 mins a day. I haven't tried much chuck Berry and if I do it won't be any higher than the fifth fret! I had a guitar teacher who gave me some good stretching exercises to do before playing that seem to help alleviate potential problems. It's amazing the injuries musicians can get. One exercise is to put out your left arm straight, take your right hand put it under your left palm and gently bend back your hand slowly and you will feel the muscles stretch in your arm...then gently pull back on each finger one at a time. Then you put your right hand on top of your left hand and you gently bend your hand down the other way...and again feel those muscles being stretched, and hold it a bit. I think these exercises help before playing. He also said when holding the guitar let your left arm extend out a little...

Thank you Rob for your long reply on our page. Its a relief to know that the earthquake has not affected you all. However, our thoughts are with the people of Newzealad. When nature strikes there is hardly anything one can do. We were helpless here in London when the Tsunami of 2004 struck affecting also the people of Sri Lanka. I could only write a song and felt very inadequate. We live about an hour from the centre of London and have to go out today to do our Christmas shopping. Later on today we will download some of your songs. We want to. They are so beautiful... and meaningful. Thank you for offering to help getting to know about IAC music. Dear Rob,

Thank you for sending us your comment and visitng our website. We also very much appreciate that you have added "Cold Cold Night" to your Top 50 and for the comment on the song.We are very new to IAC and love how they give Independent musicians a voice. Have been listening to your music. What can we say? Each song is sheer poetry. What is even more important for us is that your music is committed to life, exploring all that is important. All that is beautiful and meditative submerged in today's unsettled world of war and turmoil. We are originally from Sri Lanka but live in London UK. We are told that new Zealand is also a very beautiful country as our Island of Sri Lanka is. Unfortunately Sri Lanka is beset with an ethnic war and strife. We have uploaded on Youtube a video of
" Cold Cold Night".

This is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6wXhXR9bnk

How do we go about buying a CD of your Music ? We have not explored fully the site. Is there a way of getting ten of the songs we like on a CD ? Thank you again for the connection to us.
God Bless you and your wonderful work.
Nimal, Ranjani and Paul Marie of Mediaeye Productions/ Mediaeye Music.

I just thought I would take this little break in my busy December schedule to extend a very special thank you for your wonderful friendship and to wish you a joyous and peaceful Christmas Season … may it be filled with good friends, good health, music, love, happiness, and the special treasure of wonderful memories to warm your heart. It has truly been a privilege and an honor for me to come to know you as a special friend here at IAC through our mutual love for music.

My debut year into the world of music is coming to a close on a very special high note doing a series of volunteer Christmas shows with "Sentimental Journey", an ensemble of entertainers traveling to Retirement Facilities throughout south-western Ontario providing entertainment for the residents and the community.

It is truly heart-warming to see the smiles in the eyes and the joy on the faces that being a part of this special Christmas show brings to those who have traveled many roads in life - hard roads, long roads and more often than not now, lonely roads. When the show is over and I go to shake their hands and wish them a merry little Christmas, I see their tiny smiles, the glisten and gleam in their tired old eyes, and I hear the sound of their soft gentle voices as they wrap their wrinkled old hands around mine and look up into my eyes and say to me, "Thank you so much my dear for coming tonight, it was a lovely show and I enjoyed it so much. You have made me feel like it really is Christmas.” I cannot begin to tell you just how many times already this month I've had to hold back that big lump in my throat and stop myself from crying right there on the spot because I was so happy to be able to do what I do. Who says cowboys don't cry !!!

What greater gift than love can one possibly give.

To you and yours Rob, and all at Silverwood Studio, Merry Christmas and my sincere best wishes for the New Year. God bless.

Neil

I vote we hold it down your way. What do you think? You guys are posting some great music and I continue to appreciate the way you support IAC artists. Until next time, -JP

9/9/2007 8:28:54 PM

Rob .... Thank you so very much for your kind words about my songs, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash", "You Just Turned My Life Around" and No Looking Back" being selected for the "Stop The Violence" compilation CD here in Canada. It is truly and honor and a privilege to have my songs recognized and participating in this very important charitable cause and project. It is also a tremendous credit to the musicians, "The Legendary Bear Creek Band" on my debut album and to Paula Tessaro who shares vocals with me on "You Just Turned My Life Around".

Information about the compilation CD and the contributing artists can be seen at www.lawandordercd.com

Thanks too for your wonderful friendship and support. At the end of each day I count my blessings for the many new friends and peers who have come into my life since I took that fork in the road a couple of years ago and began venturing down this great musical highway. It all brings to mind a great quote: "The dream is not the destination, it is the journey". Thank you for being a special part of my journey.

Sincerely,
Neil
