Wow – a band that actually lives up to the hype – and they’re from Brisbane!
Well what can I say? I’m impressed. These lads make me feel very patriotic about our fair city and the music coming out of it in recent times. Their stadium rock, rhythm guitar riffs supported by tight-ass [Meaning precise, rather than cheap. – Ed] drums (because they just are), inventively fused bass and feisty lead guitar would see them compared, in my day, to such hardcore grates as Tool and The Deftones. But although they’re clearly a band on the rise, I am scared for Dead Letter Circus. My fear for this clearly talented four-piece is that the current generation of skinny-leg jean wearing, impractical fringe sporting young-uns who identify with all that is Emo will embrace them as their own. I can see them being hit with the Emo rhythm stick, never to be listened to by upstanding music aficionados again. My advice – listen to them now before every straight edge asshole in Queen Street Mall does.
