Famous Faces
“I’m a grown man with wants and needs and temptations and faults, and I’m not gonna be afraid to write about any of it,” says Leavitt, the singer/drummer whose sometimes-bawdy, always-honest narratives are filtered through an array of vintage microphones. “Everybody now wants to tell you how sensitive they are. Enough of that. Where’s the attitude? Where’s the swagger? If we can be a two-man Rolling Stones, I say we go for it.”
Adds Calio, who spent much of his career as a bassist before refining the finger-picking and slide skills asked of a blues guitarist: “I feel like on a base level this is what I’m all about as a human being. I feel like we’ve found a renewable source of energy

California Role / That Lucky Old Sun
Brian Wilson's pop songwriting has, quite arguably, been featured in more movies than any other 20th century songwriter, from the mid-60s beach movies (if he didn't write the music himself, at least he influenced his disciples Roger Christian & Gary Usher) to recent baby boomer flicks (i.e., Forrest Gump, Love Actually) and Gen Y comedies (i.e., 50 First Dates, Orange County, Happy Feet).

Townes Van Zandt
Talkin KKK Blues
As it turns out, this was a tape that deserved to be heard. Townes was just 25 when he did this show, and his voice here is smooth, warm and full of youthful vigor, and his stage manner is humorous and self-deprecating. As he says during the show, he had been performing professionally for about three years then. He had two albums under his belt, For the Sake of the Song (1968) and Our Mother the Mountain (1969). Inspired by Lightnin¹ Hopkins, Hank Williams and Bob Dylan, Townes was writing songs that had touches of the blues, country and folk of his heroes, but already he was forging his own style, encompassing both impressionistic, visionary poetry and unflinching lyrical honesty. It was a style that would come to influence such disparate performers as Emmylou Harris, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, the Cowboy Junkies and Nirvana¹s Kurt Cobain.

Many people have tried to classify Lambchop in many myriad ways. They have been called a country band, they have been called an R&B band, they have been called a rock band. They make uniquely American music, fluid in nature, grand in scope, made up of a musical melting pot of styles, influences, talent and experience. You can hear all of these on their latest album, a career-spanning compilation of singles, comp

Ashley Baker
Cigarette Smokin
Ashley started her career at 16 years old with the lead female role in the feature film “The Old Livingston House” in which her first single ""Summer Daze"" was featured.
“Summer Daze” got picked up by IRCountry Radio Network out of Dallas and went straight to #1 on their request chart. It has since gone on to be the 3rd most requested song of all time on the network. She then went to Nashville and met Peter Young, a young amazing producer, he helped her pick “Bye Bye” and “What a Day to Shake a Heartache” and put her with some of the best known musicians in Nashville. She cut those records and they caught the attention of Al Shiltz and Mike Martinovich with The Consortium Group in Nashville who have worked with such names as Billy Joel, The Judd’s, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Aldean, Thompson Square and Band Perry and were instrumental in founding Broken Bow Records. She then heard from Randy Guidry and Debbie Holley of Holley-Guidry a well known management and consulting firm in Nashville who guided the career of Tracy Lawrence. These people have been very instrumental in guiding her career thus far and she owes them a great deal of gratitude.

This British songstress has been penning tunes since the tender age of ten and it is quite apparent in her work. Her piano and keyboard skills are impeccable and her voice is that of an angel. Her melodies take one places almost completely untraveled by other artists and yet catch the ear of many a listener! This girl is so fresh and original that once you have a taste of her work you will be back for many more! And be sure to catch her hit internet show, ""In the Attic"" where brillant music collides head on with some of the best laughs and the zaniest cast of characters ever seen on the net!

Capital G
Nine Inch Nails is one of the most influential rock acts of this era, almost singlehandedly putting the industrial genre on the map. There are endless NIN imitators out there but none even come close to the emotional power and original, compelling songwriting of Trent Reznor. Amidst elaborate mechanical/electronic backdrops, there is this amazingly soulful presence that awakens you, numbs you and thaws you. ultimately changing your world from the inside. The listener runs the whole gamut of visceral reactions when listening to any one of NIN's records, which are constructed as complete works that disarm you and penetrate your senses layer by layer.

THE GREAT DIVIDE
latest fom Leo of silverwoodstudio This is completely it's own, styles molding and meshing, bending and fluid, methodically progressing and capturing each moment. This isn't just a song, it is a piece of music that exists by itself relying on each part to hold it together nicely and breathe itself into the listener. The banjo mixes beautifully with ambient sounds and woodwinds, while the light but effective percussion massages the tune with a kind of soothing magic. A great listen.

Emily Jackson
Yeah
After graduating from Montclair High in 2004, Emily had the tough decision of grinding in New York to pursue her recording career or going to a college. She chose the later and was accepted at prestigious Cal Arts outside of L.A. The experience has paid off. Now a second year theatrical major, Emily has developed into a true triple threat performer. She has had several auditions and landed a role in pilot ""Beautiful"" being developed for T.V. Upon the producers hearing her voice she was asked to perform the theme song. During her first year at Cal Arts Emily traveled back and forth to New York to do a showcase for Columbia Records former President Steve Greenberg and shoot the music video for ""I Don't Wanna Fall in Love"" and ""Yeah"". In March 2006 Urban Melodic Productions President Charlie Jones (audio mixer for The Chris Rock Show, BET's 106 & Park, Showtime at the Apollo and Daytime Series ""Guiding Light"", decided to stop taking A&R meetings and release the first singles. As he was doing the rounds at the major labels everyone kept telling him that Emily was as competitive if not better than most artists signed at a major label. That lead him to form Urban Melodic Records. The singles are now available on iTunes. The goal of the label is to create industry and consumer awareness about Emily and position the company to enter into a joint venture situation with a major media company.
Currents plans are to begin the PR, marketing and promotion campaign for the music video December 2006. The video will be serviced to MTV, VH1, BET and Fuse and to broadband Internet outlets. The targeted street date for the album is January 30, 2007. Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled for the next platinum star in the music game, Emily Jackson.

BOOK OF LIFE feat Leo / Sharon
Reached #2 in Folk Accoustic Americana
Beginning with the beautifully calming intro to this spiritually engaging and winsome musical masterpiece - quintessential Silverwood Studio - this gathering of gifted and greatly talented musicians, song writers and singers featuring Leo Haszard Barrer and Sharon Ware had me spell-bound and in the palm of their hand sweeping me magically away on a journey from the womb to a mother's loving arms and soothing lullabies and from the cradle through all the pages of the "Book Of Life" portrayed here from verse to verse like chapter to chapter and song to song in a most enchanting kaleidoscope of imaginary child-like drawings, paintings, pictures and thoughts of all the roads traveled, seas sailed, valleys walked and mountains climbed that is written into our "Book" at the time the seed to our soul is planted - from its beginning to its end. The "Book Of Life" - poignant and penetrating lyrics, soothing healing vocals and harmony, a gentle guitar melody and music as soft and warm and comforting as a summer breeze, and production and arrangement guided I'm certain by the hand of the Creator - a Five Star song in my humble book - Uplifting, Beautiful, Classic, Legendary, and yes, Timeless.

The track, “Letter From An Occupant,” caused an immediate stir of excitement amongst anyone who heard it — from campus/community radio programmers to John Sakamoto of “Anti Hit List” to Edge 102. A driving rock song — “more straightforward than anything I’ve ever done,” Carl says — it featured epic, improbably soaring vocals from Neko Case, with chugging guitars and backing woo-woo vocals aplenty, a rock tour de force

Bobby Carlson
Paper Plates and Dixie Cups
Bobby Carlson is one of the northeast regions most popular and best known musicians. Twenty-five years ago he helped create a now legendary Rhode Island band called Silver Saddle. The musicians were so respected that when the group broke up, the players went on to form other great bands like: Crisis, The Goat Ropers, and Almost Cowboyz, -two of which are still together and commanding sizable money on the New England club and concert circuit.
Bobby Carlson found success in Nashville. While signed to Lofton Creek Records, his song ""Paper Plates & Dixie Cups,"" reached #47 on the Music Row charts, on March 3, 2004. After a few years touring, Bobby come home to form the Stones River Band. Bobby Carlson & SR have played every summer at Indian Ranch in Webster MA. In 2009 he played with Sammy Kershaw and in 2010 opened for Charlie Daniels. Bobby’s performed to big crowds at the sea shell stage at Hampton Beach NH and was a headline act at Country Woodstock, Labor Day Weekend. During the cooler months Bobby plays regularly at several of New England's hottest country nite spots, like: Midnight Rodeo in Manchester NH, where his originals are so well known that his song, *""Paper Plates & Dixie Cups,"" has been choreographed and made into a country line dance.

Randy Newman
Harps and Angels
On the title track of Harps and Angels, which opens Randy Newman’s first album of all-new studio recordings since 1999’s Bad Love, a man lies stricken on a New Orleans sidewalk, about to gasp his last breath. It’s clearly the Crescent City, given the loose, jazzy shuffle the band is playing, Newman’s languid drawl, and the laissez faire attitude of God himself when He appears to report that somebody up there had made a clerical error and the tearful guy on the pavement is not going to join his...

Aimee Mann
Thirty One Today
Produced by singer-songwriter Joe Henry, The Forgotten Arm is a departure for Mann in several ways, not least of which that it was recorded over just five days last summer. “Joe makes records really fast and he makes them in a very natural way,” says Mann. “He sort of casts the members of the band well”—including Sheryl Crow’s guitarist Jeff Trott; Julian Coryell on additional guitars; Jebin Bruni on keyboards; bass player Paul Bryan; and Victor Indrizzo and Jay Bellarose on drums—“and then we just made the record fast and simple.” It is also Mann’s most straightforward rock record to date. “I liked the idea of sounding more like a live band,” she says, “so there is a similar guitar sound form song to song. On all my other records, each song has a totally different approach, completely different guitar sounds, lots of little interesting moments that happen, with tons of little overdubs. This time I was like, Nope. One guy playing one thing for the whole record. It takes a lot of nerve to just turn shit off. We only had four or five instrument playing: piano, bass, guitar, that’s it. It’s just great playing.”

Joi
Dance With Yesterday
For those that pride themselves on knowing the behind the scenes scoop of the music
industry, Joi has been one to talk about for, now over, a decade. When her first single,
“Sunshine and the Rain,” off her critically acclaimed, Dallas Austin produced debut album
The Pendulum Vibe, hit airwaves in '93, she was instantly lauded as ""the new Madonna"".
Madonna, herself, was so in love with the album that she went on to hire Dallas Austin
to produce her Bedtime Stories album. Madonna is also responsible for making the
call that landed Joi's becoming the first black model in a major Calvin Klein print
ad campaign.

Boo
In their short time, the band has opened for such notable artists as Butch Walker, Rhett Miller [of the Old 97s,] Nicole Atkins and the Black Sea, Living Colour, and Mike Doughty [of Soul Coughing]. They’ve toured the northeast coast and have graced the stages of some major venues including Webster Hall, Maxwell’s, The Stone Pony, The Bitter End, Spike Hill, and Southpaw.
The band is known for their evocative and energetic live show. With radiant chemistry and strong musicianship, they create an infectious, positive emotionality that takes over and transforms any room. Their fan base, playfully referred to as The Light Brigade, is ever-growing, and spans a broad range of people who connect with the band’s organic and romantic sound. Their sound has been described as “effortless genre-bending,” and they have been compared to stalwart

Monkey gone to Heaven
Contrary to popular belief, Frank Black, or rather Black Francis, did not actually exist prior to the Pixies. However, a man often confused for him did: Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV. Charles was “born alive” April 6, 1965 (despite his desire to have been conceived a decade earlier) in Boston (though some sources suggest Long Beach). Several years later, his family moved to Boston and the world of music would never be the same.

The Decemberists
The Engine Driver
""I'm a poor, drunken orphan with nowhere to go but the grave,"" wailed a waifish and non-plussed Mr. Chris Funk as he lay supine by the railroad tracks. The crate of records he had been cradling in his nubile appendages now lay in pieces on the ashen ground, his complete collected recordings of sixties psychedelic luminary Rick ""Paisley Dave"" Rigmore scattered hit her and yon like so many dead leaves beneath a diseased elm. Noting his neglect to accredit this phrase to its rightful owner, chief engineer Jenny Conlee, her accordion neatly strapped to her back, stepped lightly from the caboose and corrected his negligence with the aplomb only an immigrant Hungarian could muster: ""Dylan Thomas, sir! Please move along!"" But it was too late: an indelible bond had been soldered in that moment of recognition. A few hours later, in a Turkish bath, they revealed their stories to one another between sips of a strange, tangerine liqueur. Not far from that spot, however, two young military dignitaries (Rachel Blumberg, Nate Query), appropriately lathered, overheard our two heroes' stories. Was it chance, then, that lead the four unsuspecting bathers to seek to return their soiled undergarments at the same kiosk where worked the poor, bespectacled Colin Meloy? One can surmise all one wants, but the truth should be known that, after adopting the moniker The Decemberists, these five wan vagabonds began playing their peculiarly styled pop music in various concert-halls and brothels all across the globe

Donna Loren
Last Night I had a Dream
On March 7, 1947, in Boston, Massachussetts, a 1960’s icon was born. A multi-dimensional star, excelling at the 3M’s of Hollywoodmusic, movies, and modelingDonna Loren’s name is synonymous with the Swinging 60’s era of music, motion pictures, television, and fashion. Donna began her singing career at the early age of five, when she won second prize on an amateur show. This began the momentum for the next eleven years, when she appeared on shows including Playhouse 90 and a radio program, Squeakin’ Deacon. At age 8, she sang her first commercial for Meadow Gold Ice Cream. By nine, she had cut her first record, “I Think It’s Almost Christmas Time,” and by the age of ten, she appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club TV Show. Donna’s popularity heightened in 1963 when, at the age of sixteen, she was selected to be the first and only “Dr Pepper Girl.” She promoted the soft-drink company for five years on the radio, in a huge billboard campaign, magazines and personal appearances. One could not pass through any city without seeing the captivating image of the young beauty gracing the streets. Her big break catapulted her to bigger screens, namely five prominent singing/acting roles in popular teen motion pictures including Bikini Beach, Muscle Beach Party, Pajama Party, Sergeant Deadhead, and Beach Blanket Bingo alongside Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Tommy Kirk, Deborah Walley and many other popular stars.

Eye To Eye (ft. Krista Parrish)
Lost In The Woods
a glance Krista Parrish will likely draw you in with her beauty and contagious smile but below the surface is a deeply intellectual, timeless songwriter. She sings with a range and tone that is exceptional, writes clever lyrics that will touch your heart, and plays the strings off a guitar. Krista’s picking style, percussive strumming, two handed finger tapping technique, and intricate chord progressions present a unique quality to every performance. But her ability to combine such virtuosity on her instrument with equal vocal technique truly separates Krista from most contemporary singer songwriters. In any performance, she will share emotion and honesty, sweet, yet raw, whether she is scatting or breaking your heart with a sultry tone.

The Donnas
Do You Wanna Hit It?
The Donnas were originally formed in May 1993, when all four members (all born in 1979) were still in the eighth grade together in Palo Alto, CA. Calling themselves Ragady Anne at first, they played covers of groups like R.E.M., L7, the Muffs, and Shonen Knife, and entered a junior-high battle of the bands just one month after forming. During high school, they kept practicing virtually every afternoon, and soon moved into riot grrrl territory with inspiration from bands like Bikini Kill and Bratmobile.

Death Cab for Cutie
for what reason
Death Cab for Cutie originally formed in Bellingham, WA, in 1997 with their cassette-only Elsinor Records release, you can play these songs with chords (later expanded and reissued by Barsuk on CD). The group, which appropriated its name from a song title by '60s UK rock ensemble The Bonzo Dog Band, has consistently released outstanding albums over the years, gaining a wider audience and fanbase with successful US and international tours, and seeping into the consciousness of mainstream America with the success of their latest albums and frequent mentions on the hit TV show, The O.C. None of this attention, however, has changed Ben Gibbard's emotionally powerful songwriting skills or the warm production of Chris Walla, except that both keep getting better and better over time.

Don't Do Anything
In a career of more than two decades, Sam Phillips has built an intensely loyal fan base that has tracked the evolution of her music from Beatles-esque alternative pop to seductively stripped-down torch songs - with an intriguing side trip into the world of The Gilmore Girls, where she served as composer. And she continues to enthrall music critics and her fellow musicians. In fact, one of the most highly praised tracks on the new Robert Plant / Allison Krauss collaboration, Raising Sand, ""Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us,"" was written by Phillips and appears on 'Don't Do Anything' in its original form.

The release of her 18th studio album, Billie’s Bones, is the latest achievement in Ian’s remarkable career. Billie’s Bones beautifully showcases Ian’s superb songwriting and sultry vocals.
“Billie’s Bones is a folk album,” Ian says. “I’ve spent this past year at home, so it wasn’t the typical ‘go on tour for 8 months, slam out an album and go back on tour’ recording process. Because of that, there’s a calmness to it I haven’t had since Stars and Between The Lines. Almost all the songs were written in January, February, and April of 2003. Usually I don’t manage to complete that many songs that I like in a short period of time.”
