David Newbould And The Stowaways are a band out of Nashville, Tennessee, born of a purpose. Its four guys and one woman found each other out of a necessity, seeking to avoid the town’s pervasive pop country factory and slick superstar building machinery. Built around the songs of David Newbould, the band is fueled by a love for playing with one another, and a unity that only comes around once in a blue Tennessee moon. Playing impassioned “Americana that makes you wanna go crazy and break stuff” (fan quote), they have been working hard since they formed in 2013, sharing stages with Kevin Gordon, Derek Hoke, Andrew Leahey & The Homestead, Leroy Powell, and many more.

David Newbould is renowned among peers as being one of the most consistently moving songwriters around, as well as one of the most focused and high energy performers. Performing and writing songs since his teenage years, he’s toured and worked out of New York NY, Austin TX, his hometown of Toronto Canada, and his current home base in Nashville. His music has been featured on 10 TV shows/films, including “Criminal Minds”, “Joan Of Arcadia”, and others. Recently, Dan Baird of The Georgia Satellites cut two of their co-written songs on his barn-burning 2013 album, Circus Life. Newbould's 6th CD release, Tennessee, topped a number of individual 2013 Americana radio lists, and finished #16 on the Euro Americana best of 2013 list.

Drummer Joe Dorn saw a David Newbould show and instantly offered his services. “I don’t have a lot of road work lined up right now, and there’s not much money involved”, warned Newbould. “That will all change soon, dude. I’m in.” Together they hunted down one of their favorite mutual bass players, Jason Navo, presenting him with the same irresistible offer. Andrew Sovine, grandson of legendary country singer Red Sovine, was asked to help out for the Tennessee album release show. “I’ve seen you play guitar and am pretty sure you don’t need someone else handling the instrument,” he said, “but if you’ll take me, I’m in”. They haven’t let him go since. Finally, the picture was rounded out by elegant heartland fiddler Caitlin Nicol-Thomas, who brought her years of throw-down roadhousing gamesmanship into the band (not to mention some mush needed class).

David Newbould And The Stowaways have a goal: to work as hard as possible, and win over as many people to their brand of heartfelt music as they can, both out on the road and at home. “I may go for days where my guitar takes me, that’s just what I do…I may fly away on a western bound jet plane…but I’m always coming home to you, I’m always coming home to you.” It’s not just music, it’s life.
