Singer/Songwriter Matt Irwin, was born in the small town of Chaffee, Missouri. He grew up in a musical family of singers and piano players, and began playing piano himself at the age of 10. Soon after he graduated high school he was persuaded by some friends to learn the bass guitar to join their rock cover band, but as soon as he began learning to play, Matt realized that he wanted to start creating music of his own. He traded his 3 month old bass for an acoustic guitar and began teaching himself how to play by ear, and crafting his own songs musically and lyrically. In 2003, Matt helped form an Alt/Rock band called "Roadside Memory" with his cousin Ashley. Matt played keyboards and traded lead vocal duties with Ashley. "Roadside Memory" had local success playing covers and original songs that Matt and Ashley had written. In 2005 the band had a lineup change and changed it's moniker to "The Corporate Mustache", with Matt as the sole lead singer/keyboardist. "The Corporate Mustache" sound remained true to Alt/Rock, but with more traces of Punk/Metal. The band recorded one 3-song demo, only to dissolve in early 2006. About 6 months later, Matt joined "The Mika Evans Project" as a Keyboardist/Backup Singer, all the while still writing songs of his own and co-writing with Mika Evans (who had written over 800 songs). "MEP" had good local success with their Acoustic/Alternative rock sound and high energy show. They had acquired some label interest, but weren't able to take advantage of it and eventually disbanded in early 2009. By this time Matt had written nearly 100 songs of his own and made the decision to begin singing lead again and playing his own music. Over the next few years Matt fronted an Alt/Rock band called "Ungrounded" and an Acoustic/Rock band called "The Silver Lining" before deciding to perform solo shows playing both piano and guitar. Matt moved to Nashville TN. in August of 2012 to continue to pursue his writing and performing. He is currently co-writing, recording, and performing in Nashville and plans to release a new 6 song EP, produced by Andrew Adkins (Colored Parade, Electrahead Media) in the Spring of 2015.
