It’s been said before and it’ll be said again: British soul is definitely on the map now Richard Emberstone has been catapulted into the spotlight! After developing a unique persona encapsulating a definitive plethora of silky vocals and intelligent song writing making him one to watch for.
An extensive PA rotation on the underground club circuit, has given rise to an extraordinary 12 months for this nascent star in the making. “Amazing Love” was written and produced by Richard Emberstone himself; the title track combines solid funk beats with his silky tones to create an exceptional cool sounding R&B classic, “Die without you” gives the listeners an insight to this creative talented individual by capturing a funky jazzy but banging soul masterpiece, the journey is then taken further with the smooth melodic ballad “Move on” which showcases Richards fantastic vocal, production and song writing capabilities and finally “When it suited you” delivers a contemporary soul R&B flavour that can easily compete with the best and definitely one for the airwaves.
Richard was born and raised in North London and was heavily influenced by his Caribbean heritage and UK street life. His parent’s passion for soul, rhythm and blues, reggae and Hip Hop had a profound effect on Richard. Although he excelled in his exams and has completed a law degree from Brunel University his heart still remains in the music. It’s a gamble that is set to pay out handsomely after the completion of his first EP to be released on Zum music, it is clear to see that Richard Emberstone’s stylish, smart, attractive and funky personality depicts that he has more to offer the critics than his remarkable music.
Currently working on his sophomore album entitled “Richard Emberstone has landed!” his raw and inventive style is intellectual enough to satisfy the connoisseurs of the soul underground following while keeping with the kind of feel good radio friendly compositions that will seduce anyone with soul and looks sure to fully realise this talented singer, songwriter, producers crossover potential whilst keeping his feet firmly in the streets.
Not only does R Emberstone possess a truly eclectic style he exhibits a polished and versatile vocal delivery that contrasts richly with his urban upbringing. The album will have elements of pop, rhythm and blues, soul and a unique style of lyrics. It is clear that in a n age in which British black music is characterised primarily by macho posturing and tedious gun toting materialism Richard Emberstone is an artist with rare depth and vision.
