Spontaneous Project started with me(Steve Ison) going round for a jam at Musical Connections member Darshan Davies' flat in September... He had some nice words written and i picked up his nylon stringed guitar and sang a tune to them..Luckily he had an ancient pocket-size Portastudio and a cheap mic which he held(no mic stand y'see) to record it... It was great fun,so we carried on doing this till we'd got 18 songs together a coupla months later.. Then we spent a couple of afternoons adding a full sonic arsenal of chicken shaker, cheap keyboard, backing vox,old bongos, handclaps and more nylon string guitar till the tracks began to shine in glorious, resplendent lofi..Picked our favourites to make a mini album for friends and family and called it 'The Davies Ison Project'... Amazingly a top record company executive from E.M.I happened to be walking past the window at the precise time we did our first playback. He invited himself in,saying excitedly it was 'Pure commercial gold' and 'the most astonishing thing i've heard in over a decade' and offered us a 6 figure deal on the spot.... We politely declined his kind offer tho, saying we were holding out for a better deal of total obscurity...
Love Prediction Handclaps, hooks, the beach boys and a bubbly synth go into a big pot, simmer for 1 and a half minutes and get served as a tasty snack
Watching The Birds Fly Its got whistlin' n stuff
Sunshine Mega exhuberant sunshine lofi
Pick Yourselves Up Alternative Pub singalong for those too scared to actually go in them..
Halfway T.Rex and Neil Diamond meet The Brady Bunch
Don't Wanna Be Sad No More A sad haunting song living alone in a tiny cottage in the forest..
Maybe We'd Still Be Friends Just a little ditty..
Oh Girl Fluffy..
It Feels Like You A brooding duckling that turns into a Swan..
Living Day By Day Its like a strange sandwich..The middle bit has a kinda mystical filling and its covered either side by white-bread mellowness...
Fade Away
11/3/2009 6:33:10 AM Thank you so much for adding Red Dress to your KIAC Radio! I realise this thank you is rather belated, but the reason is that for the past year we have been working on a new project which has taken up every spare moment and we haven't been keeping up with our various sites (;-() We think your station rocks. A really nice selection of music and we love your comments on each song. I see, by the way, that IAC is threatening to boot a lot of artists off the site - I sure hope we are not included in this purge because we have just now finished mixing and are now about to go into mastering our new project. It's a 15 track blues album called Surreal Memphis Blue. Hugs from everyone at Shady Rosy
1/29/2008 4:42:03 AM I am working my way thru the network of stations and artisit that that I have become connected to. This morning it's Davies, Ison, and friends -- just finished "Girl". This station is more than a lot of fun, it's also a potent statement about music quality (as you well know, I'm sure) Way to go guys! I ,for one, needed to have this approach to music reinforced in my mind. AND -- I'm developing a taste for various styles of vintage tape hiss! Terry from kk
