Poirot
Back
Very White Album. Sounds like George, John and Paul put this together in the studio. Poirot is a gifted artist from Athens, Greece. Wonderful song.

Heavy shades of Paul in the no man's land after Abbey Road before McCartney. Sly, you sly dog, you even got Paul's 1969-70 voice! Awesome, and thanks to Norm for highlighting this song on his Hemp station.

Same Here
Peter's song sense is excellent. Lots of Beatles influences here, but all his own too.

A very nice post-Beatles Harrison slide guitar on this pop chart topper. Nice work!

The Waiting Room
Sweet... and yes Ronnie, it's got some Cole Porter too. But what great popster hasn't listened to one of his tunes and just been overwhelmed by how complete his songs were. That's what this one is: Complete!

Pick Yourselves Up
This has the sound of a John Lennon home tape. Chords, melody, lyrics and vocals are all pure Lennon. Wouldn't we love to hear the full Beatle treatment of this tune? Nice!

FAT LADY
It's more than the use of chromatics that makes this very White Album. An interesting cut by an interesting duo.

Suggested by Jeff Allen Meyers on the IAC Songlink thread, this one has nice changes, excellent performances and a nice Harrisonesque lead. The ending is straight out of the Magical Mystery Tour LP. Nice job folks!

Everything She Does
This song isn't straight up Beatles, but wait til you get to the lead guitar (and you don't have to wait long for it). Dennis Marth did the great Harrisonesque lead guitar.

I couldn't decide which of Jeff's many fine tunes to add, so I include a couple with the hope that you'll stop by his artist page and try some more out.

I couldn't figure out what was so familiar about the background vocals until I listened again and the calliope from Mr. Kite suddenly appeared (rather like newspaper taxis, if you will).. nice pop.

More Than You Know
Peter has a McCartney - Emmitt Rhodes feel to this tune. Though The Disappeared isn't here on IAC, it's worth looking for. But in the meantime, check out his page for three wonderful tunes.

1, 2, GO!
Floating (Home Demo)
This tune covers it all. It has a little Everly Brothers (who were a big influence on the Beatles), part Merseyside Sound, Mid-Beatles (complete with talky montage and reverse guitar.. well attack delay, but the Beatles would've used that instead of the backwards tape method if they'd had it) and that simple sound and delivery that Lennon finally returned to in Double Fantasy... Excellent.

SHE'S AN ANGEL
Richard has several Beatles influenced tunes, so if you're in the mood (and I assume you are because you're here), click and listen. This one has that cool early Beatles sound with the arpeggio rhythm guitar, an excellent Lennon delivery, nice harmonies and perfect guitar fills. Nice job folks!

I Know A Good Thing
Not only could the Beatles bossa nova with the best of the 60's, they did a Bacharach tune (though not one of the later great jazz pop tunes like this one).. This tune is just plain pretty... perfect... thanks Steve.

Ooh La La
Thanks to Super Puss for suggesting these guys. If you go to their page, you'll see John Lennon's sunglasses on one guy. Not only did these guys keep a simple early Beatles arrangement, but the kept the song at under 2:30, making it that much more reminiscent of those days. Now, if only they could add some AM radio static..
