The Glimmer Room's sound weaves chopped up breaks and beats with lush synthesis and melodic instrumentation to form atmospheric, layered soundscapes. The man inside The Glimmer Room is Andy Condon, bedroom recording artist, keyboard fetishist and convicted technophile. Having spent much of the mid 1990's playing keyboards for various local outfits around Essex, Andy found himself becoming increasingly frustrated with dismantling his home studio only to drag it around the London toilet circuit for very little gain. In the Spring of 1998 Andy made the decision to go it alone. He moved to the sticks just outside of Colchester and commenced work on The Glimmer Room project. Via contacts made on the net, Andy was offered a deal by seminal Sheffield synth label Neu Harmony. The Glimmer Room's debut long player, 'Tomorrow's Tuesday', was released in March 2002. Influences for the album include such electronic luminaries as John Foxx, OMD, Ultravox and Tangerine Dream as well as more recent acts like Underworld, Archive and Air. 'Tomorrow's Tuesday' has been described by some reviewers as 'chill-out' but The Glimmer Room's music transcends the genre, drawing comparisons as diverse as Moby, Enigma and Mike Oldfield's 'Songs of Distant Earth'. Sept 2004 saw the release of The Glimmer Rooms second album release ‘Grey Mirrors’. A much more laid back affair then ‘Tomorrows Tuesday’ drawing influences from more ambient works such as John Foxx’s cathedral oceans and The KLF’s Chill Out. While still enjoying a healthy relationship with Neu Harmony ‘Gray Mirrors was released on Andy’s own label A-Frame Media.
