I still just want to be heard
Okay, we get it: IAC is not perfect.
In fact, it is quite flawed in many, many, many ways.
But what it comes down to is this:
You people who are still hanging around here... many of you have listened to my songs. And I have listened to many of yours.
That is cool.
Larree: you are still peeking in... you obviously still have SOMETHING invested in this place, as (rightfully) pissed off as you may be. Thing is: have you gotten more listeners from any other site? I'm certain that I haven't.
Let's be here and listening, and telling our friends about the music that we hear here that we love. [NWA]Fuck the management[/NWA]... ignore them, as long as they can provide us with a platform and some promotion — a place to get heard.
Feathers have been ruffled, to be sure. Egos bruised.
But, we've been LISTENING...
to EACH OTHER.
And that is what fucking matters to me, goddamnit.
I'm not gonna get rich. I'm not gonna get famous. (And I don't necessarily want to be famous.) But I want to achieve immortality. I want people to sing my songs.
And I want to sing your songs.

Hi Todd
I can see a sort of 'sulking' among long term artists going on here at IAC and I understand why.
With new directions and possibly a split into 2 sites, those who are hiding in the shadows should come out and say their piece now, if they wish to have ANY influence on what goes down---
Personally I feel there are unresolved (song of the year prize issues) details to be resolved b4 artists feel trust that the next "competition" and conference will actually happen, and be worthy for those who attend.
I live thousands of miles away (in New Zealand) but am still interested in attending NOT to COMPETE with anyone, but rather to mix and mingle, and take some short 20 second vids of artists, and do interviews for a Doco we want to put together
"Searching for the Indies" starting in NZ and finishing in Hong Kong!
So far it all looks a bit 'top down' in the planning, maybe there should be a 'buskers day' or "peoples day" for those who just want to get their rocks off with their mates----maybe a second stage-- or a 3rd day b4 the main conference and TV shoots for all the singer-song-writers
-----who make up the bulk of members
WHAT DO EWE THINK?

I agree !!! There should be a less formal get together "Open Mic" or songwriters in the round for everyone to meet, mingle, and settle the online issues in person! :) Kidding about the last part :) I am sure everyone here would get along great in person.
95% of the people here are not polished performers, but they are still great artists that will shine in a less "Hollywood" setting.I count myself one of those.minus the "great" part. :)

Actually we don't need IAC to meet, mingle and mangle each other. We can just all crash at Larree's place. Unfortunately Larree isn't getting any listens here because he deleted all his music files and his stations too, which is sad. Hope he comes back some day, but the site may be unrecognizable by then.

Thanks Lars
can ewe give me his address? LOL
We could take a deep breath about now---I am serious here!
We would need an outdoor venue (a park, a street market, a public space)
We would need a contact in Los Angeles who could get neccessay permits etc
I would welcome IAC management to think this through---at the moment you are planning an "elite event" hoping that the rank and file will attend
A n "Open Mike" or Buskers day" would ensure that more would attend the Conference AND the concert---
OK--I admit this is in my own interests
IF we come--- it will be to produce U-Tube diary----working title
"searching for the Indie Spirit" posted each week---then edited into a doco when we get back to NZ
I would want to interview as many of the artists on my stations as possible so I need them to congregate in one place---LA is fine
Plus I would shoot (very short) clips of their music
Not all will make the final cut but the idea is a world scrapbook of Indie music, the ups and downs --the scraps ---the back slapping---the $$$$ (or lack of it)
---the characters and the pros
There would be a Larree interview if he stops sulking
now speak up!!!

This site is still working for me. Lots of plays, lots of interaction. The good outweighs the bad, IMHO. I've abandoned a lot of sites where it just isn't working. IAC is still one place where I feel like I'm part of a music-based community.

I am with you John, and that is why I am still here....
I believe that in the end, no matter how this site changes, it is the dialog between the artists here that makes the difference. There are many sites on the web. As far as I know this is the only one that has an upfront forum where artists can exchange their views. I have said this many times before, this is like the Mont Matre coffee shop where the painters (Artists) meet at the end of the day. If this forum gets put somewhere in the back burner...Worry!!! because then IAC would no longer be what it's name says "Independent Artists Company" We are the Independent Artists!!
Ciao,
