The No-Getters - "Sympathy"
This is my son's project. And this is his first-ever song.
He does not play an instrument, but he does have a lot of teenage angst to get off his chest.
The No-Getters - "Sympathy"
Only a minute long, as all good hardcore should be, and pissed as hell.
A good kid, despite the foul mouth.
;-)
Check it out.

No, it isn't your thing at all! Kinda surprised that you even responded to this one, Steve! But thanks so much for the encouraging words. He will be happy to hear them.

Not bad for a 1st. The subject matter is kind of angry but having mentored many young people I have found that to be normally prevalent. Ah yes, the angst and anger of youth. What I prefer to do when encountering new musicians is to concentrate on the technical aspects of the song and give guidance on how to improve. With that in mind, I would suggest that he put efforts into learning a variety of song forms (which of course would help to extend the length of the songs) and chord theory. Once he/they learn about intro's, chorus, verse, bridge etc. The sky is the limit in regards to how far their songwriting can go.
No, this is not my sort of thing either but I applaud the emotional outburst of it all. It is emotion that gives music heart and soul. Overall, it's not a bad 1st effort! Now they concentrate on building on that. There is no doubt that one day he will look back on this first effort and smile a knowing smile about how much more he has grown. I listen to songs I wrote way back in the day and just outright laugh sometimes. It's all part of the growth cycle.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

Taking him back to the studio this weekend. Gonna tweak a couple things in the mix and then I'll repost it.
He has some more lyrics written that we may do something with, if he wants to do so.

A new mix is up. I think that it's a lot better. A lot weirder.
Check it out.

There is much potential to this song. The pulsating steady bass is perfect and the drum sound is right for this genre too. If the vocals were more out in front with less reverb, I think the words would have more of the desired impact. What I can hear of the vocals, I like, and I wish they were louder. This is a raw and authentic first effort that could be great with a few minor tweaks. It has tremendous energy and passion.
Good job!
