My band got some airplay in Sweden!
My song "Break My Heart" was just played on this fantastic SWEDISH radio show, also broadcast in San Francisco, and now archived as a podcast!
And the DJ had some really nice things to say about the song (and about my band, in general) on the air, too!

Thanks, Steve!
Would be cool if there was demand enough to see me in Sweden that the concerts would at least pay for my vacation over there.

Always include a direct link to your song, otherwise no one will listen. This is just a fact. Two clicks = too many.

Thanks so much for the congratulations and the compliments.
Oh, and I wasn't posting this to have a link to my song, just to let you know about the podcast (to which I did include a link in my initial thread).
But, if you really do want a direct link to the song, I can give that to you:

It's your best song. Pitch the hell out it. It's your ticket to ride.

Thanks so much!
Do you think that it's better than this one?
"We Made It to the Middle"
Recorded it the same session as "Break My Heart."

Hop On Pop, We made it to the Middle
http://indiemusicpeople.com/songs.aspx?SongID=93929&ArtistID=10003
I'd like to talk some philosophy here.
I grew up basically atheist. My folks never indoctrinated me, and my Dad said later, he let me make up my own mind about religion and such. I identify with that, I've let my own son grow up and decide the same himself.
To me, these are some deep lyrics.
"Looks like we made it to the middle
I never, ever thought
That we would get this far
Never get the chance to solve the bigger riddles
Push a little farther and collect more scars
It’s a dead man’s world
Life is just a break
A time in-between
Until we finally get to take
That long, long nap
After years of being awake
Become, once again
A part of the mud "
I agree and I disagree. I've tried for decades to figure out what it's all about. I don't think we'll ever get to solve the bigger riddles. They're just TOO big. Too complex.
Still, we do push ahead, and collect more scars in trying.
What I've gathered from studying for tens of years, and I'm sure it's just superficial.
I think this life IS a break. I think we are eternal, in a sense. I think our spirits carry on with or without us, and I think they inhabit us for a time. Part of us goes to mud when the machine breaks down, part of us goes on, to something else. Part of us is lost, part of us cannot lose the connection to the UNIVERSE, the evolving striving towards...something...the connection that will not break. I'm in the school that believes that time is eternal, there was no beginning, there is no end. Our local UNIVERSE evolves toward something, as it has before, and will again, and we are part of that.
In between helping, we sleep.
"The road left behind
Is littered with mistakes
But we keep moving on
And raising the stakes
And we ‘ll use the lessons we've learned
On the roads we've still to take
Breathe it all in
And keep the windows open "
Good work, Todd.

Hey Dan!
Wow!
Thanks so much for your very thoughtful commentary on my lyric! Very cool that this is one of those times that I feel like I have connected with somebody who actually GETS what it was that I was going after.
I mean, I fully believe that we all bring our own meanings to any work of art -- that there is no one right answer as to what something "means." But you just got what it was that this lyric means to ME. Very cool. Thanks for that.
And… I came here to tell y'all that the same show is playing another Hop On Pop song again THIS WEEK! Not sure which one, yet, so I guess we'll all have to tune in to find out. But I wanted to let you know.
And then I got sidetracked by Dan's wonderful commentary on "We Made It To the Middle." But that was a very welcome distraction. So thanks.
And… TUNE IN AGAIN THIS WEEK!
If you dig power pop, this is an amazing show. If you don't, it's still pretty damn great!
