Emitt Rhodes! His first album in 40 years released TODAY!!!
Also known as "The One Man Beatles," Emitt released a couple of (should have been) classic pop albums in the early and mid 70s. When they didn't do so well, commercially, he disappeared into the mist. (Rumors of drug and alcohol addiction are out there.)
And then, around the turn of the millennium, there were rumblings that he was threatening to put out a new album and now… here it is!!!
Emitt Rhodes - Rainbow Ends
(that's the Spotify link, if you wanna stream it.)
I listened and it's not bad. Not amazing; the production is stuck in the mid 70s, and some of the lyrical content is not very becoming of a man in his 60s, but there are some pretty good melodies. It definitely could grow on me with more listens.
But, that's not the point. The point is, EMITT'S BACK!!!
Let's all celebrate!

For those of you not familiar with Emitt's old, 70s stuff, here is what was probably the biggest hit that he had as a solo artist. He sang and played everything himself, and recorded it in a homemade studio that he built in his parents' garage.
Quite a feat for 1970.
