The greatest live show I ever attended...
...has been posted on YouTube!!!
Tom Zé and Tortoise at Park West (Chicago), 1999
The video and audio are a little sketchy, and the performance starts out a little shaky. But then they find their groove and it just SMOKES!
The most inspired and inspiring performance I ever had the pleasure to attend.
And, most likely unlike anything else you've ever seen.
Check it:

Did anyone watch this? Any of it?
Curious to hear your thoughts.
It's not for everyone, but... it kinda is. Just so playful and engaging.
Don't want it to drop off the board before folks have had a chance to check it out. Even if you don't watch the whole thing... start it toward the middle and check out a couple of tunes.
Curious.

I like it! Just started listening. Their opening song reminds me of Gentle Giant - one of the best bands I have ever seen live. Will listen to some more later. Good one, Todd!

Did as you suggested and clicked randomly in the middle - around 32.0 Wish I understood what they were saying with audience response before they went into that little instrumental which was great. But listened after that too. Loved it!

Cool. Thanks for checking it out!
I should say that:
A) I don't speak Portuguese either, but that was part of the fun.
B) Tom Zé was 65 years old at the time of this show. And he's still making challenging and playful music today, at age 85!

I'm astounded he was 65 in this video! Ageless I guess ... thanks for posting.

Eh, not for me but glad you liked it.
That video was a long time ago too, not that it means anything in the magical world of music,

No, Steve, it's definitely not for everyone. But that's kinda the point. It's challenging. But, for those who do enjoy this sort of thing, it's magical.
And I just thought I'd share.
Thanks for checking it out and giving it a chance. You never know what you might like until you give it a chance.

The best live show I ever attended was CSNY on their Y2K comeback tour. It was unbelievable after all Crosby had been through how his voice was so strong. It brought tears to my eyes when they did Almost Cut My Hair.

I have seen way too many amazing concerts to select one over all the others. I can't even give you a top-10 list without leaving 20 concerts off the list. Damn. I saw The Grateful Dead alone well over 300 times.

Damn, Larree, you are a "super fan". Over 300 times? There is nobody on earth that I would go see that many times. Nobody!

lol, Stoneman! And I know people who make me look like a weekend warrior. I have friends who have been to over 1,000 Grateful Dead and post-Jerry Dead shows.

I've seen many great shows but one of the best was Stevie Wonder. It felt like the whole venue was levitating.
Other great concerts:
CSNY (first time Neil joined the band)
Any Rolling Stones concert
Dylan and the Band
Jimi Hendrix
David Bowie
