Allow me to rephrase: MY STATION NEEDS SONGS!!!
Now that I got your attention, let me please clarify:
ONLY DEMO VERSIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED.
You see, that's the concept of The Demonstration Station.
So please, let me know about any demos you have up here at the site and I'll be sure to get them up (if I like 'em, of course). Any solicitations for NON-demo versions will be swiftly deleted from the tagboard.
Thanks. And I'm looking forward to hearing your unpolished little gems.

Alright I will admit to being an old dumbass......But only because I'm pushing 60....40 years ago I would have been a young dumbass...
So, please...pardon my ignorance, but what constitutes a "Demo"? Does that mean a song that has been recorded without the aid of a professional studio, etc or has been recorded into the sound card of a computer or????
One more question.........Concerning "Cover Songs"......just what does That mean?
Seriously, I apologize for my lack of knowledge about these things....But, I hadn't picked up my guitar or sung for nearly 10 years before writing and recording the songs I have uploaded (all of 'em new...with 3 exceptions). And I sure as heck haven't seen the inside of a studio.
Gee....Now I feel so much better now!......It's kinda like AA....."Hi...My name is Texas Willie and I am a dumbass...."
LOL

Well, demos (the way I see it -- which is all that matters for this station ;-) ) are home-recorded or first-draft versions of songs that you are planning on redoing some day; polishing up and whatnot. It's your scratch pad version of a song that may or may not be done being written, but is certainly not in a form that you would say is "final". Or at least, you didn;t think so at the time.
Am I being nebulous enough?

Nice to be here, enjoying the whole atmosphere and the opportunity to meet great artists and enjoy great songs.
Have a wonderful week.

How about a big home production on an old four-track with a pile of tracks collapsed on each other with clipping and other non-professional anomalies?
I always wanted to re-do this one but the singer now lives 700 miles away with no real computer resources so it'll always be low tech.
" Finally Cool" has amassed a whopping 12 plays in its first week and can use all the attention it can get (even one listen!)
Thanks.

Dear Nebulous,
Thank you for the clarification! The criteria you have outlined would put all my songs into the "demo" category then.
There is not one song that I have uploaded that I can't improve upon and they have all been "home recorded".....
I guess I should offer a little more "Bio" here, as it relates to my recent recordings.
In mid June this year, I recorded a video (using my Canon video camera and the mic on it) of the first song I ever wrote (I was 17)...."Yes It's True". I uploaded that video to my personal page on MySpace. That was the first time in nearly 8 years my guitar had seen strings on it.
Well, you can imagine the quality of the sound recording of that effort! But I had so much damn fun doing it, that I started using my web cam's microphone to record into my computers (on the motherboard) sound card....Better sound than the video camera....But, because it was a web cam, I had to strip out the video.
Then, in late July I got a new sound card and installed it....Then a Shure microphone and stand....I also decided I should have a midi keyboard (even though I have never touched a keyboard) and picked up a Yamaha DGX220.
I also picked up some software during this time...Anvil Studio and the plug ins, Magix MusicMaker, Audacity and a few others.
So, after a while I established a "Band Page" on MySpace so I could share my music with some friends and family.
And on August 24th of this year, I began by uploading a couple of songs I had written in my early years (20's).....
Shortly after that, it seemed as though lyrics and music was just flowing out of me, with song ideas coming to me from some strange places.....One particular example is Voodoo Doll.....That song idea came to me when I was watching the last round of the Fed Ex Cup and the announcers were talking about how soft the greens were and everyone was "sticking it close to the pin"....Hmmm....sounds like a Voodoo Doll to me".
My apologies for being so long winded here, but I just wanted you folks to know the when, where and why of "Texas Willie"*.......*A nickname that was laid on me by Al Springer, when I returned to Michigan from a "vacation" in San Antonio Texas in 1976.
I also want to say again (because I can't say it often enough or LOUD enough)....The people on IAC are THE BEST!
Bill
