Back to the basement...
I have no idea when I'm going to be able to get enough scratch together to record the next studio album, if ever. Plus, add to that the busy schedule of the Red Plastic Buddha (our other band, led by Tim the HoP bass player... look for it soon) and I think it might be the end for the band.
I'll head back to the basement and try to record some songs whenever I get a chance. Make the most of the lo-fi scenario like I did with "The Yummy Song". That is, if I ever write another goddamn song.

Sorry, not trying to "bump", but what do YOU think of "Lo-Fi" as an aesthetic?
Do you like it? Interesting? Or has it worn out its welcome?
Curious to know.
Thanks.

It comes down to what people are used to ,' state of the art ' hi fi has spoilt us and we tend to expect all music to be of that calibre.
Listening to live performances( not U2) often has the lo fi sound!
I personally like to hear what an artist would sound like if we were just jamming in the same room, that's lo fi for me!

if you want to hear some serious lo-fi please have a look at a song on our page called "tickle my feltch" (stupid title for a stupid sounding song) it's a single mic recording from our first rehearsal in quite a while (brain surgery and all) we should be re-recording the backing track tonight and then some time soon it will appear on here under a new title, but yes its very lo-fi, more lo-fi than a midget limbo competition.

OK! Let's have a LO FI festival on this blog!
Our best LO FI recording would be "TAILGATOR" 4 track Fostex , We used my youngest childs toy keyboard, and 1 mike, basically live, having had a couple of drinks, I walked away from the deck with the headphones on , and the 4 track hit the floor, never to go again!
6 months later I found the tape and mixed on the vocal track with guitar! On our new Tascam.
Voila!

ok our best of our worst is a song called so sacred it was recorded as a live performance with all the amps miked up through a desk and in to an 8 track, then we added vocals on to it after its very raw and very badly done but we think we got away with it. I'll look at yours if you look at mine......... And if thats not lo-fi enough i have a whole heap of single mic recordings of songs we threw away.

If you're talking lo-fi, guys... I created a station specifically for such things:
The Demonstration Station
It's all demos, all the time. Some more lo-fi than others.
