To those of you who served in the Military:
Thank you.

erm... I think they know.
I'm wearing my poppy with pride. And please don't restrrict it to USA military. That's pretty disrespectful.
You guys haven't lost MILLIONS in pointless wars. In Europe it's a rather more spectacular waste of life.
I do wonder about America's shallow understanding of global history sometimes...
Especially when you say that at this very unpleasant time. The day of 11/11 is for ALL people who died.

You are, of course, correct. Title has been corrected.
I made the distinction simply because this is the U.S. holiday.
But, of course... to all of those who fought for the greater good:
Thank you.

I missed Viet Nam by a few years and I sure wasn't looking forward to going, guess I lucked out. But I often think what is must been like for anyone being sent to where they know they won't be coming home..
Talk about incredible sacrifices,,. they all deserve our respect and gratitude.

My father served in WW2 in Egypt against Rommel, and then Crete and Italy, he was a seargent in the Maori battalion
When he returned to NZ in 1946---he weighed 6 stone----he would seldom discuss the war ----but he did save an unpopular officer from being thrown overboard on the trip home
STERLING---you called my family 'Scum of the Earth"-----what are you?

He knows what I'm referring to Super.., He's made very derogatory comments regarding large segments of American society and found it humorous that our recent election might lead to civil unrest with zero regard for the innocent people who could be harmed.
That's how good people think? Of course it is..

I'm a Nam "era" Vet. Went in the Army towards the end (1974-76) when they were bringing people back. Did my tour in Germany.
They may train a man to kill, but they also train you to trust your life to a fellow solider. That trust never goes away. Character and the strong will to succeed in what I believe is something I learned from those years.
God Bless the Brothers in Arms everywhere!

I was a con_script to the South African army during the apartheid era.
I am truly proud that I caused so much disruption that I was discharged from "duty" before I had served my time. Amongst my military achievements was being charged with mutiny (though I was never convicted), absconding with a military vehicle and going to the local town and returning in an inebriated state - and the funniest of all was being caught by the captain of the guard whilst on duty, with my rifle on the floor, helmet off, sat in the guard hut with a phattie going... I have never seen a man go so apoplectic! The good thing was that I was an exceptionally fit young man and I could deal with all of the physical stuff they threw at me for punishment.
I pray that the day may come soon when all men will wake up to realise that war solves nothing.

Sterling30:
I believe that in a free society you have the right to speak. That's what our soldiers fight and die for. So I guess you are entitled, however, I think "scum of the earth" is a bit harsh for a fellow musician/artist here in this public forum.
Why not wipe the slate clean, shake hands like men and enjoy the day?
My father fought in WWII so I'm free to opine, what say you?

Larry, bigoted and derogatory comments towards American citizens are not allowed under free speech and are especially not acceptable when they specifically target large segments of society that have never shirked their responsibility in times of national crisis.
I apoligise for this coming to this thread, it shouldn't be here but I've had nothing but harassment from that guy since I started posting here as his latest attack indicates.
I can take all the lame insults but when someone starts cheering on civil strife in my country with again, absolutely zero regard for how many innocent people will be harmed then a line has obviously been crossed.
I apologize again that I responded to his latest attack in this thread. Hop On Pop, please remove my entries from this thread, thanks.
