Any of you struggle with disabilities
I have MS.
Did you know that? Did I mention it before. I have some memory strangeness sometimes. Thanksfully, I am doing okay with my MS and have been for the last 13-14 yeawrs. (Except for the iccasional typo and whatnot!)
But, anyway, that turned out to be a good thing.
Really:
A few years ago, I was having some short-term memory issues, so my Neuro decided that, what the heck, let's do another MRI, even though you appear to be doing great.
My MS was just fine... same place that is has been since I had been diagnosed some 10 years prior.
BUT
There was something else in there that they needed to take a closer look at.
Turned out to be something called a Cavernous Angioma; a tangled clump of blood vessels growing in my right temporal lobe. And this one had started leaking, so it had to come out.
I had the craniotomy a couple of weeks later, and have been pretty-well okay ever since.
MS saved my life.
The end.
The moral of the story is:
Don't take the hard breaks in life too hard... you never know what they'll lead to,

Well, although you may not remember who I am - I'm very glad that your condition has turned out for the better.
Never give up and always think positive.

That's an amazing story. I have a very close friend with MS and she is also doing very well. I think it can go into remission for quite long periods of time can't it? She has some spells, and then it goes away again. She's had it about 10 years as well.
My main disability is dyslexia. I'm pretty sure that I'm also A.D.D. I also have S.A.D which is seasonal affect disorder. I get the blues in the winter like clock work. It has to do with light deprivation. It has gotten worse since I moved to Canada where the winters are much longer. I have a light that I keep on my desk while I am working that mimicks sunlight. If I don't use it, I get wonky.
Ashley, my daughter, a very talented musician is legallly blind. There are lots of pics of her on my page. She sings with me but is away at school right now. You would never know that she is blind. My son, who was a carbon copy of me, was also dyslexic. Guess it runs in families. deb

Wow Todd, great story, you are definitely a cup half full as opposed to a cup half empty kinda guy.
I've a few things going on medically, one of enough consequence that I've been off full-time work since 2004 and had to quit playing out over.

Hey!!
Thats an amazing story.....
I was diagnosed with MS in 1998.
I had been having symptoms since 1990 or so but in 98 it kicked my ass..
couldn't walk more than 100 yards or so, lots of cognitive things.
I had t-spine, L-spine and Brain MRIs and....
I have several paraventricular lesions and other brain lesions but quite luckily no spinal lesions.
I end up having lots of neuropathic pain in my feet and shins.
I chose to deal with it by using supplements and physical therapy
Lot of GLA in 2 or three forms, Lipoic Acid, Vitamin B complexes and non steroidal anti inflamatories...all sorts of Long Haired Science nonsense, I did a natural metal cleansing for 6 months back in 2001 that really seemed to help, but it's hard to know if the disease is recurring and remitting on it's own of if you are having an effect on it...
I had to re-learn a lot of guitar and some other stuff, but I walk well now, I do physical therapy at the spa that is specific to my condition.
I still have serious memory issues as well which is disheartening, and I've had a few serious Optic Neuritis spells which are scary..
But really I'm in pretty good shape, people don't know I have it unless I tell them.
I walk with a slight limp, but no one ever asks why.
:-)

Ouch Never, hope both you and Todd keep on keepin' on.
And hey, send me that chord progression! I know I started a thread around here somewhere, and you mentioned you finished it for the lyrics I sent you. I tried to go back to respond to everyone, but lost the post. Who DOES know how to access your old blog posts once they fall off the Pipeline page?

I don't know how to do access old topics unless I started the topic..
But I do know how to record a Chord Progression, I'll do it right now.
I'll sing along with one so you can hear what I'm thinking and then I'll make another with no vocal.
here's the thing, My e-mail data transfer is limit is low, but what I can do is upload it to my page and you can grab it and then I'll delete it..
we'll have to move quickly to keep people from peeking......

Wow Todd, you have an awesome, positive attitude about life.
The only thing I deal with is sensoneural hearing loss and tinnitis (ringing in the ears), God figured it would be pretty funny to give a guy who loves music as much as I do some hearing loss.
It has not stopped me from making music, though I fear one day waking up and finding all my hearing is gone.
A think your attitude is pretty fantastic.

I did know of your affliction Todd, and I'm glad to hear that you are still doing well in spite of it. Still alive because of it is even better.
As for my disability, I'm driven by creativity but hobbled by timidity. My disability is dreadful shyness and avoidance of social situations. It's never been diagnosed, but Asperger's comes to mind.

It's good to air it out sometimes, isn't it?
Thanks for sharing your stories, y'all. I loved reading them all.
And, any of you with neuro issues who are close to Chicago (or are willing to travel here), my doc. is amazing and I would recommend him to ALL of you.
I've referreed several folks to him already and have received nothing but profuse thank yous from all.
It is a beautiful world, and I truly believe that we are placed here simply to enjoy all that it has to offer. And that the negatives are here simply to serve as a counterpoint to all that is wonderful.
Love it.
That is why we are here.
Now... I'll get off my soapbox and let you all speak some more.
Let's make some more great music.
I do love it so!

Wow! Todd, didn't know that. How could I, I guess.
I'm disabled do to injuries I received at work. I've been out of work and disabled since 1997. As a result of one of my injuries, I have been unable to play my guitar with any regularity because it is too painful. I also have a medical condition that needs constant attention, but I consider it my little cross to bare in life.

Well hello there!
Ok, I'll give you a bit of my story and I'll only post this once.
I was diagnosed with MS about 18 years ago and had a terrible time!
I had all kinds of problems from vision to balance.
Fast forward to about seven years ago and................
Turns out it WAS NOT MS but Lyme Disease!
And by the time I found out about 20 years or so had gone by and I now have what they call Chronic or Stage 3 Lyme Disease.
I went on disability about six years ago because of it and have been taking massive doses of anti-biotics ever since. At this time no cure for me and my Lyme Doctor said he could not guarantee that I would be cured because of how long I had Lyme.
So what do I do? I live man and still write new songs all the time. I can't play out anymore because of this disease but I am determined to keep my spirits and moral high!
I just started recording some of the songs a very good friend of mine co-wrote with me way back in the days of our all original band. I have finished one of the songs and will be posting it on my IAC page soon now.
One thing I would suggest for the MS people here is to get a PCR/DNA test for Lyme to rule it out because Lyme Disease is called the great imitator and can look like many other kinds of disease.
Hang in there my friends and keep playing that music!
Steve

Love your attitude Todd ! .... I'm pretty much a walking disability .... but I think we all are in one form or another .... so I don't really feel out of place anywhere .... most of my stuff is either self-inflicted or a design of fate .... The way I see it is I may have more bad days than good .... but the good days are like the coolest thing in the world .... so the bad days aren't really bad at all .... everyone of them is worth it ....

hello Todd,
impressive story, thank you! and the way you deal with it is an example to all of us! I share your belief (and experience) that something which seems negative in the first place reveals itself to be a good thing later on... (mostly in a mysterious way we often do comprehend only much later... if we ever do)
rock on and never give in!
warm regards
Magnetfisch
