Is it me, or do you always see the same artists on the front page?
Scott and Toby claim that it's a random procession, and that all Prime Members get time, but I ALWAYS see the same folks' pix on that front page.
How about you?
Not bitchin' just noticing. (Well, maybe bitching a little.)

Aah! Ainjel Emme. Aimee Mann, Minipop, Katelyn Dawn, Divinyls, Ana Lovelis, Andrea Miller and Gina Villalobos are so familiar to me now they feel like friends Todd..but I have to say that "Hop on Pop" are often in there with the regulars - I always wonder which one is you? The big one or the little one with just a head showing haha! Apart from Scott, nobody has spotted me yet, that's why I'm adding to your blog now, just to get the pic up tee hee!!

Yep.
I haven't seen you on there much either.
Give me JAWZ!!! And I'm not talking Richard Keil's bad guy in the crappy Bond films of the late 70's- early 80's.
Oh, and I'm the little guy.

Obviously the whole slideshow thing started with programming committee picking acts to feature just like on Hitline. Then we came up with what we thought was a nice idea to include any prime member who sent us a proper pic, but what we didn't anticipate was that some artists would look at the thing and wait for their pictures to come up and then get mad at us if it didn't happen to show up while they were looking. There are several different batches that are rotated on there and if your pic isn't in the batch that's being rotated at the time, you might sit there and wait 4 hours and end up furious. Judging from the amount of times this topic comes up on the pipeline, I think the whole idea has annoyed more people than it's made them glad they could be included.

Hi ALL!
I was planning a blog , with the Front Page as the topic-------so I'll just Hop on Pops
instead-------
The Front page is the most important place to have a presence on any site!
without that link your chance of exposure is limited---and you will struggle.
It is not neccessarily the pics, but just having a link on there means a new visitor can click and get straight to your page!
That is why there should be more transparency about how songs get on the Big 50
The underground 40, and the Kiac hitline------
None of these seem to be connected to the 50 top songs in all genres?
If this site is to keep attracting more and better Indie Artists it should be clear
how they can achieve this -------!!!!????
Also I believe that the Cashbox link should be there on the front so folk can go straight there to see the genre charts
Cashbox is much better known in this part of the world than iacmusic.com
as we used to have the Magazine in shops, movie theatres, etc and people still remember it!!
This is not a moan, I have done much better here already than I expected
I am grateful to Toby, Scott, Joe and the crew-----in my eyes you are heroes !
But the site must keep adapting to stay strong---my sermon is complete
by the way -----nice pic JAWZ you were my first image when I logged in!!

Yessir!
It only mentions the KIAC big 50, and says it is chosen by a programming committee?

The slideshow now goes through the entire list in order, and each day it will start at a different place, and the order will be changed. To see it, you might need to close all instances of your browser, then revisit the front page.

It really does look better now... I have been here for awhile now and I have seen more new pictures in the last thirty minutes than I have seen since I've been here.. and I log on a lot so I don't think I was missing all these pics before ... anyway good work, it's nice seeing fresh mugs on the front page.

Oh no!, I've just seen JAWZ pic on the frontpage and to be honest it wasn't worth waiting for (and taking IAC off air while you found it too). She's so embarrassed now she's thinking of having it removed, how ironic is that?

Good discussion!
And thank you, Toby for checking in and letting us hear the IAC viewpoint.
Despite the fact that we all bug you every now and then (ahem!), you usually respond to our comments/bitching, if not by changing something, at least by letting us know the inner workings. That is much appreciated.

Bwahaha! Ooh er..!! :) I'm cringing under the desk now - I thought I wanted to be famous but no...I just can't take it. Where's my dark glasses and my bodyguard? Where did I put my Tina Turner wig? Has anyone got a big guitar I can hide behind? Is there a clinic for famously unfamous anonimous people? ..hang on, that wouldn't work because I'm not anonimous anymore. I think I want to drop back into oblivion now Toby! (can I borrow that default pic of yours please? Thanks to my fan club for being nice (and nutty). J***

Too late! You can't unscrew a light bulb. Wait, yes you can. What is it you can't unscrew? Oh yeah, never mind. But you are more famous than any of those others listed so you'll just have to live with it!

I wouldn't know Stegor all my lightbulbs have bayonet fixings so I guess I'm a few screws short ...How many bass players does it take to change a lightbulb by the way?

i've noticed that the rotation seems to depend on your visiting hours, but overall it does seem to feature some above others. i won't complain about being up there, of course - it's an honor and it makes my day every single time i see it.
i'm curious as to what other ideas you wonderfully creative beasts can propse to promote the prime members in a way that is also in the best interests of the site itself. there are so many facets to this place that it's hard to tuck it all into one index page. i don't know how they do it as it is. ;)
and MUSIC MISTRESS, please do consider me your IAC family AND friend! :)
we're all in this together, after all.
