"I'm Pathetic" well, it's true!!!
This is a live acoustic recording of
"I'm Pathetic"
a song that I have re-recorded for the new album.
It's got some of my favorite chord changes that I've ever concocted (inspired a bit by Steely Dan's "Peg") and a pretty good melody (that I have a hard time singing).
Still looking for someone to sing this one on the record. But, for now, this is the song in it's rawest form. Do you have a range of more than 1.5 octaves? I don't!
I hope that you like it.
Love,
Todder

I like this one. good energy & nice progressions, I hear a strong melody line in the singing. you actually pull off the vocals pretty good there Todd and it does have quite the range indeed. It is a pretty decent tune and it would be interesting to see where it goes with other instrumentation in the future recording you have going on and maybe some harmonies might be considered here and there ?

Hi Todd,
There was a lot that I liked about this song, I think I would have felt pretty pleased to write this - not sure I could tackle the range either but if it's any consolation I love to hear a man trying to get those sweet top notes.
I smiled to see how you changed the words between the live and written versions - e.g. Looking/searching and drags/brings. By the way you have to find a more appreciative audience, sounds like dinner time in the local Woolworths :))

I may have a taker for lead vocal duties on this one.
He's gonna give it a listen over the weekend and let me know if he thinks he can handle it.
Let's hope...

I got the singer for this tune to actually record his vocals.
And, they're GOOD!!!
He also created an entire vocal arrangement, and it's REALLY GOOD!!! Very Byrds-ish, with complimentary, overlapping harmonies. And even a tambourine recorded for good measure. This was the best move that I ever could have made for this tune! Now I just need to get a good mix, and this one may even wind up being the single. (Maybe the second single, after "Here" which I posted for preview about a year ago.)
Now, if I could just get my life together a little and find some time to actually finish this damn album, I'll be able to get it out to y'all. That would be good, because this is going to be something that I am unequivocally proud of, in every aspect, from the songwriting to the production.

I just sent the sessions over to the mixing engineer today.
I'll hopefully hear from him later and set up a final session for this one. It will be tricky, though, because I have a very cool lead guitar track on there that I have to figure out how to work in (and where) so as not to destroy the groove.
Also, it's a helluva vocal arrangement, too!
I'm hoping the record will be totally done soon.
This thing has hit more road blocks than The Bandit.
