So, what is your "Day Job"?
Not sure whether or not we've done this before. If we have, it's been a while.
me:
I'm a writer — a catalog writer for a "major industrial supplier".
It's not terribly interesting, but the company treats me well, and I can pay (most of) my bills.
You?

Otis is some kind of engineer, physics and programming or something... showoff.
I'm supposed to be a student but I'm more of a philosopher/poet. I used to work heavily in politics until I felt it sucking my soul away, which is too bad cause it was good money, especially compared to being a musician.

What timing, eh?
I've been workin' at tryin' to FIND a replacement day job, so I've had to steer clear of time spent on the computer/internet related to MUSIC & IAC....
urrr..... to make a long story short: ARTFEST Haus of Music & Art is in danger of foreclosure... and as a single-income father still supporting 6 of my kids... I HAVE to get a good day job QUICK, in this horrible economy. OH to have an investor/patron to be able to do MUSIC 24/7 creating/recording/touring/etc !!! I REALLY miss it. This Sunday is the ONLY day that I won't be hitting the pavement for apps & job search, so I'll get a chance to work on music and possibly IAC then.
Needless to say, I won't be around much at all, here in these hallowed halls of IAC for a few weeks. I wanted to make sure that y'all knew I was still alive and kickin', & ready to rock in a HEARTBEAT, especially for a paying gig. So I hope to STILL be workin' on all other aspects of bein' a musician in the interim, while tryin' to get my funny bone back working again, and not get discouraged too much.
I know everybody is probably JUST as stressed, & busy as HELL right about now, so I do hope this didn't come off like whinin'.... just lettin' anybody who cares to know, wha's up with ME.
ONE encouraging thing, even in my absense PHLEGM PHAVOURITES some how ended up back in the TOP 10 of all stations! I do so love & miss my time on IAC.
Thanks to any and all for listenin'. Nice to see the responses here (both actual job info. & HUMOUR) .
TODD you got some NEW folks contributing to your DAY JOB blog this time too!!!!

I listen to people for a living; 35 hours a week. They talk to me and I help them to discover what they already know. I'm a counsellor/therapist.
I also like to raise poodles for therapy purposes; but that is more of a passion/hobby. Although the above job is also a passion. My goal is to produce the most beautiful intelligent "therapy poodles" in the universe.
Lastly, I play music. My band plays gigs. I write music when I have time. (usually when I am sad)
Life is very busy and I like it that way.

Yes, this has been done before, but it was a while ago....
I am semi-retired now. I am a chiropractor and osteopath, an acupuncturist and a computer programmer. I have also worked in a kitchen...Of course I do a lot of cooking, house maintenance and of course I am an Italian gigolo!! But I have been happily married (to the same wife...) since 1974, and she met me when I was a full time musician in Italy.
...what next...a pop star of course...I am a dream chaser...
have fun,
Vincenzo
P.S. It is the dream that keeps you alive....

Yeah, V.
It is the dream that keeps one alive.....but don't FLOG it too much.... someday I'll learn that one better.
I fuckin' turned Todd's DAY JOB post into a WHINE-Fest, PROMO-post, with my original entry....
And my station dropped in the charts like a garbage truck off of the empire state building
I went from #8 overall to urrr.... 20 somethin' !!!
What a DUMBASS I can be.
BUT I WILL get a NEW, and BETTER day job, by fuckin' hook or by CROOK.
Maybe get back into the COMPUTER PROFESSIONAL status, that I SHOULD be doin'....
Either way. Whether bunches of people listen to my stations, or only a FEW, I WILL get a GOOD day job, and help my fam to survive.
AND TODD Thanks again, for takin' a moment to BLOG this out - Celebrating the WORKING MAN/WomAN Musician.... Not EVERYBODY has the freedoms of the RICH.
Celebrate your ART & Music, as the BEAUTIFUL part of your connection to the GREAT DANCE.
AND WORK your ASS off at your given day job, WHATEVER it may be!
