Todd's song challenge: "Waterloo Sunset" vs. "God Only Knows"
Sorry for stepping on your toes, Bellamy, but this battle occurred to me and I had to post it.
So, which is it?
I, personally, don't know if I can choose between these two two of my all-time favorites.

I agree with Woodstock. Both songs are masterpieces created by two musical geniuses. They evoke emotions in me I didn't know I had. They paint pictures I've never seen before. I'd give anything to be able to write like that but fate chooses who the muse will favor and it's something I can only dream about.

That's so hard Todd but I suspect there will never be another "God only knows" production but I live in hope that someone could write a sequel to Waterloo Sunset and I hope it's me :)

It is a tough one Todd, both are beautiful tunes.
But I guess that as much as I like the Beach Boys, I love the Kinks. And as much as I love the Kinks, when Waterloo Sunset comes up on their Greatest Hits album, it's the only one that I always press Repeat on.
So Ray & Co. get my vote on this one.
Good battle,
Glenn

I only just heard Waterloo just now on the link. Not bad, but "God Only Knows" would beat just about any song...

Oh God... God only knows for sure! :)
Brian Wilson heard "Rubber Soul" and said...... "Damn!!!!!" and the wrote "God Only Knows"
McCartney Heard "God Only Knows" and thought "Oh...Damn!!!!" and wrote songs for "Revolver" and then continued on with "Pepper". Unfortunately Brian could not keep up with the friendly inspiration competition as he fell into depression and self-imposed exile.
