I suppose that Tom Zé can be considered to be something of a muppet, himself, can't he?
Anyway, I saw him about 11-12 years ago, during what was (as far as I know) his only U.S. tour. He was just the tender age of 63 -- bounding ALL OVER THE STAGE!
His backing band was none other than Tortise (although he did bring one fellow Brazilian with him), and it was one of the most startlingly energizing concerts that I have ever seen. Melodically, rhythmically, spiritually, intellectually, and... it was purely cathartic.
An explosion of life, as represented in sound.
If I appear to be at a loss for words... I am.
Zé is a marvel, one of my favorite musicians ever, and I cannot wait to see this film.

The movie just arrived today and I watched about a third of it. (I'm waiting to watch the whole thing with my wife.)
It's pretty much everything that I wanted it to be, and more. There are looks into some of the Estuando a Pagode recording sessions, and pre-tour band rehearsals. Concert footage (of course) and... it's just awesome.
Yay ME!!!
