It isn't difficult to understand why "Happy Faces" is doing so well. Bouncy and catchy- it has a great quality to it, and is performed and arranged quite well.

...Also, it doesn't sound all THAT lo-fi. Believe me.

Raymond,Silverwoodstudio, srm and Richard many thankyou's for voting and saying such wonderful things about Happy Faces and its success in the top 40 here.We are not merely riding the crest of a wave at the moment, but hovering like modern Jesus's just above it -and that feeling is down to YOU!!

Like benevolent Jesus's tho ,we humbly ask that you that you continue to squash your natural self-concern for a while and PLEASE KEEP VOTING!
The sight of Happy Faces everywhere is surely a reward in itself and will make you feel beautiful inside.

Richard.Congratulations on your chart successes and choosing so generously to share your statistics in our thread!
I'm guessing topping the Cashbox chart has brought you an awful lot of cash.
Thats why that chart is called such.
Would it be rude to enquire just how much?
We in The Attic are obviously excited about the prospect of trousering plenty of $$ from Happy Faces-and were wondering just how much we should expect to make from it ?

Congrats on the Underground 40 placement. Well deserved too!

But I don't believe that anyone can "vote" for your song on the Underground 40, as the Underground 40 and Big 50 charts here at IAC are songs selected by a secret group of people who are part of the running of the IAC site, or at least that is my understanding of the situation. And they seem to do a great job too, choosing some really fabulous music to showcase! The genre charts are based on an algorithm of song plays and downloads though...

And as for Cashbox or anything at IAC relating to bringing in cash, if you are after money for your music based on chart placings here at IAC, then I am sorry to disappoint you. I have been part of IAC since the very early days, and have had my songs in the top 10 of the World music chart for years (yes, years!!), including the current number 1 for some six months now (which puts it at the top of the Cashbox Indie World charts too), plus songs in the top 10 of the Sitewide Genre chart... I have also had a couple of my songs in the IAC Big 50... all of which I am truly proud of, don't get me wrong, but none of this has any bearing at all on earning money for my music. In all those years at IAC, nobody has ever bought one of our CD's having heard us first at IAC and we have had 5, just 5, download sales here. Hardly going to raise us out of poverty :)

I don't know why that is, because at other sites, like CDBaby and AudioCandy, we have sold hundreds and hundreds of CD's, we have sold thousands of CD's at our gigs, and had many hundreds of dollars worth of downloads via iTunes, Napster etc... but at and through IAC, nada, zilch, zero, nothing!

Sure, people here will tell you how great your songs are, what a wonderful artist you are, even what a great person you are (sometimes), but put their hands in their pockets and pay you the ultimate accolade of actually buying your music? Forget it!

So, yes, make the most of your time in the Underground 40 - but please don't have expectations of any other effect on your life through music here at IAC, especially financial - that way, you won't be disappointed!

The Attic- I'm not making any money from Cashbox. It's just an online magazine that tracks the music charts. They do have a music division that signs artists but they haven't signed me. The charts have nothing to so with the music division. They are totally separate.

We are up to #19 on the Underground 40 chart!
So,please please PLEASE.... KEEP ON VOTING!!!!!
The way you've all turned natural selfishness into heavenly selflessness brings a lump to our throats and a quiver to our lips( not in a cool way like Elvis-more involuntary and emotional like a blubbering child)

Susan..You say you've been top of the charts here-but havn't sold anything from IAC yet.
Maybe that can be explained as your success hasn't been in a VOTE RUN chart like the Underground 40?
If it takes 2000 votes (say) to get a song up to #19 here(like Happy Faces has)-thats a stack of potential buyers for your CD!!!
If the charts you've been topping here have just been the result of a few scattered plays here and there (no offence intended) then maybe that explains why you havn't been selling your CD here?
Try and get on the Underground 40 would be our advice and encourage people to vote for you like crazy-as we are!!!

Good luck :)

Moray...Thankyou for adding it.Happy Faces IS our favourite song. One called 'Bottie POntin' is an even better song, but its not as well recorded as Happy Faces unfortunately.

Richard.Sad to hear you're not making the cash you hoped for- or are getting signed. We in The Attic are holding out for a big major-label deal,so maybe wouldn't accept a Cashbox offer-unless they could provide a six figure advance (doubtful i'm guessing)
We're gonna use the success of Happy Faces on THe Underground 40 as bait to draw the majors in.
As the voting increases to a frenzy toward the top 10,the majors will start circling-and we can get the best deal for ourselves as they start a bidding war..

I know that sounds selfish, but we'll put in a good word for other artists once we get signed,so try to help you all out a bit :)
