Ever had a strange experience at a gig?
Has anyone had a strange experience at a gig? Something you really didn't expect.
I was playing with my band My-T-Hi last night in Osaka and the set was going fine. Then in the middle of a song there was this really horrible smell. Like someone farted but worse, and stronger, and it lasted a really long time. It kind of put me off singing it was so horrible.
Just wondering if anyone else has had some stange experiences at their gigs.

Do gunshots and having a guy drag his lady out by the hair count?

You heard about the drummer who was late for the gig...locked his keys in the van...
...took him nearly an hour to get the bass player out...

Ummmm.....I WAS a bass player!
Anyways my weird experience was getting to our first gig at this particular venue and there was this notice on the dressing room wall telling the bass player (me) to turn down...before we'd even started!

Gunshots and having a guy drag his lady out by the hair are way strange..... Did you keep on playing?
Bruce
Did you keep the volume down? or did it make you want to turn it up?

Mi T Hi (love the nick, btw)
Wouldn't you know this was the first night my sister came to hear us. So, middle of the night (this was a late night gig at a very popular local spot), this guy right in front of us pulls out his pistola and shoots up the ceiling, then grabs his girl by the hair and literally drags her outta the room. We played on. For like 5 seconds, until the situation penetrated our doped minds. Then we dived under the tables. After a minute (being manly types) we followed the guy outside only to find a few shot out windshields and no guy or girl. And that was the resolution of that.

Wow, that is a show stopper. Was your sister impressed?
(By the way, My-T-Hi is my bands name, I'm Moray)

That was the silly thing Moray - I always gave a line out to the front of house guy and let HIM deal with overall levels. My amp was just for onstage monitoring.
Anyways bass players can't count to "Eleven".....

That does make it very silly, Bruce.
When I was drumming, I was once told not to use the bass drum until after 7:30pm. It was a small bar with a hair salon below. The hair salon closed at 7:30.

Hahahah!! Some great stuff here, we were once told to turn down by the landlord who lived above the pub, he said he couldn't hear his TV over the noise we were making..........!!
Another gig that stands out is when a marquee deflated around our ears, a near 'whole band suffocation incident' for sure :)
