Doing it solo, any tips?
I got a gig coming up that the other guys in my band can't do, so I'm going to do it solo. I've never done that before. Anyone got any advice on doing it solo?
Cheers

Hi Moray
Something similar happened to me a few months back--- we were booked for an arts festival------and the rest of our group had a car accident, 150 kms away and the cops impounded the vehicle------so I had to go solo!
I did quite a bit of talking--- M-Cing also played covers that I knew well, and didn't mention the accident to the audience-----confidence ---smiles---stuff you know inside out!!
cheers

I've done a few solo gigs.
First thing:
Know your limitations and know which of your songs will and won't work with just you and your guitar. (You'd be surprised.)
Second:
Don't be afraid to twist it all around a bit.
You don't have your bandmates up there keeping you locked in to a certain, specific arrangement. Give it a shot, and if you fail... blow up like the freaking Hindenburg.
Third:
Have fun.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I have a lot more time work it out than you did Rob, that's way cool how you handled it. Hope the car accident wasn't too serious!
Lot's of good tips from Hop on Pop... thanks. I tried out a few songs today, and they do need a bit of a different approach without the band.
Cheers
