Guitar strings.... take your pick
Blog here for guitarists... What's your favourite strings?
I like to use earnie ball regular slinkies. I like the twang when they're really new, and I can get them in Osaka at a pretty reasonable price too, which is good for the rainy season when strings don't seem to last that long. I've tried lots of others in the past but have been using these for a good few years on my electric, archtop and acoustic.
What are the guitarists here using?

nearly all of them are made in the same place.
these are actually different
http://www.thomastik-infeld.com/
I used them back when we toured because I got them for free...
They sound amazing, they seem to last a bit longer..
These days I use a standard earnie ball 10 set on my les pauls, a 12 to 52 set on my Bigsby Equiped heritage (my main axe) and 10 to 52 (light top heavy bottom) on my drop D les paul.
I'd still use thomastiks, but I don't feel like ordering them(or paying for them)...and the 10-52 set is custom.
ernies are just fine, and I'm convinced that D'Addario are the exact same strings as ernies in a different wrapper...

I've always used Ernie Ball. I figure if they're good enough for Keith Richard, they're good enough for me. I've tried every brand on the market but I keep coming back to Ernie Ball reg slinkly. D'Adarrio strings are popular but they're kinda too bright for me, or somethin'. I just don't dig 'em. For acoustic I use Dean Markley Vintage Bronze for my Taylor Guitar.

I use Enrine Ball Regular Slinkies (10's) on my Les Paul, Super Slinkies (11.s) on my Epiphone Rivieara (335 copy) and the new Martin 11's on my acoustic.
The last set of acoustic strings I used I went back up to 12's as the neck had shifted slightly and needed the neavier strings to shift it back. (no truss rod, or at least not adjustable). I made the mistake of using phosphor bronze ones and hated the extra brashness, they've just about settled down after about five gigs.....

Looks like Ernie Ball's are pretty widely used amoung the guitarists here.
How about any bass players. What do you use?

I use GHS Boomers, although I like the sound of Rotosounds, too. I use 3/4 scale basses, though, and GHS's are 'easier' to find, in a pinch.
Incidentally, I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys on my electric guitar and John Pearse mediums on my acoustic.
So there.

I use Elixir nanoweb on my acoustic. Coated strings they have a good sound and last a really long time. I have those hands that make strings instantly go dead. I don't understand it. The Elixirs are expensive, but it beats changing strings so often.

Same here with the Elixers on acoustics. My hands are string killers too. I think it's a sweaty palm thing? They are pricey but they definitely hold up a lot longer than anything else. I used to use Martin Marquis on acoustics but I'm spoiled by the Elixers.
And it's Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's on the electrics.

I use Elixers on all my guitars, and special order Carvin strings on my basses.
Nice and crisp tones!
