Get Under The Covers!!
During the weekend I will be posting my cover of BAT FACE GIRL'S song: Weighs Down My Soul. I obtained permission from the author, Jim Crick and I'm super excited about it. The original version and the cover will both be on my station UNDER THE COVERS
I hope that Jim and everybody else likes what I've done with the song and that anyone that presently has a cover of another IMP artist member will let me know where to find that cover so I can post the two versions. This is a long term project and I have high hopes for it. If it grows the way I hope it does, there will be some cool surprises that will follow. So step up to the plate and cover a song by an IMP artist. Hit a home run for the home team! Everyone always talks about how great the music is here, so pay homage to your favorites and show the world what you and your friends can do. We already celebrate the rich and famous enough. Now let's celebrate the poor and obscure! We are our own heroes, now. Let's use our super powers to help each other rise above.
Weighs Down My Soul by Jim Crick (Bat Face Girl) is a great song and I and I hope I did it justice. I hope it inspires others to go and find a song at IMP they love and pay homage to it by covering it. We all say "There's such great music here" but actions speak louder then words. Get under the covers and have a great time. By honoring others, you honor yourself.
It a win-win sitaution.

I'm psyched to hear your version of the Bat Face Girl tune. We've got Chandra Moon's permission to cover her gorgeous song "Easy" but it will definitely take us longer than a weekend to get it done. So I'm glad you say it's a long term project. But it's on it's way! I love doing covers - so excited you thought of this station for IMP.

Great, Delores! I'm so excited that you are doing one of Chandra's songs. That's a perfect choice. I can't wait to hear it. As far as my covering BFG, I've actually been working on the song for over a week, so no, I'm not that fast although covering an existing song is much easier than creating a new one from scratch. That could take me years!! ;-)

I played it, and added it up to the vibe, it is a classy take and cool cover Dolores, but will check it again, i have had some troubles today, could be my end, we had some big storms that knocked out power here and my service has been spotty at times

Delores ~ The song is playing fine! I've added the original and cover to my station.
YOUR COVER IS AMAZING!!! I almost fell out of my chair when I heard it. Even the picture is gorgeous. Great job every level. The vocals are nothing short of stunning.
You illustrate everything I'm trying to show about covers. Thank you so much. I hope others will be inspired by your example. Of course it helps when the source material is so brilliant! Your love of the song is so evident. It's a true homage to Chandra's wonderful song. Keep those covers coming, everybody. I have high hopes for this station and this is just the beginning.

Well I'm glad it played for you on the station page - that was the target , so mission accomplished haha.
Also glad you like it for Under the Covers! Thanks Richard for your really encouraging comments. I don't take it lightly coming from you and what you know about music and production. It was the most fun to work on. And as you say, Chandra's song was totally inspiring to me.
I'm looking forward to more IMP covers - one artist to another. Great station!

First of all I want to thanks Richard for such a great idea for a new station - I'm really hoping more people take up the challenge!
Second - big thanks to Dolores for doing such a lovely job on covering what is actually one of my favourite songs which has so much meaning (a lot of it not so well known of course) and coming up with something totally different but at the same time so perfect a version.
It's so smooth and chilled compared to my version which has more special effects and dynamics to it. Dolores' version I found very captiviating and it's the first time anyone's ever covered one of my songs so I found myself listening to it with a completely different, uncritical kind of ear and appreciating it as a song - almost as if I hadn't written it. Hard to explain but I found it very moving and I really enjoyed and like the song (if that all makes sense).
I've been incredibly busy drumming the last few weeks but I'd like to try and do a cover some time myself. I think it would be good for me as I have no idea how to play anyone else's songs as I never have.........

Thanks Chandra - We were only ever trying to do justice to your version. We had other ideas but ended up not adding tracks because they always seemed to obstruct the words in some way, and those words are just so perfect.
