Supportive and brilliant artists like Delores and Bryon and what they contribute here is definitely on my list of reasons to live. I'm especially happy about how well the lyrics have been appreciated as I have 2 CD's worth of new songs that have a heavy emphasis on lyrical intensity and universality. No turn was left un-stoned - both lyrically and musically. I'm still adding vocals and hope to be finished soon but I've been having severe neck pain that has hampered me greatly. I have an appointment to get cortisone shots to relieve the pain. It's no surprise that too much computer work and too much wearing a heavy Les Paul guitar around my neck are the reasons for the pain. I've been through hell after this project I intend to take a long break form anything resembling stress. I was on a roll with the songs and I just couldn't stop. Songs just came pouring out of me like a river. I told my wife I'm just going to write one more song and then I'll stop. She said "You said that several songs ago!"
OK, now I've REALLY stopped writing and playing. .
After I release this new material I may retire for good. I feel confident now that I have some substantial work to leave behind when I leave this world. I feel I've said what I wanted and needed to say in my latest work and I attempted with all my heart to touch the hearts of others. Winning Best Male Artist here in 2017 was such an amazing inspiration. I continue to strive to live up to that great honor by always reaching for something new and something better than what I've done before.
I thank Scott and everyone like Bryon and Delores and others who have encouraged me so much and who make the site what it is. It takes a village to nurture an artist and this is the best village I know of.

I hope you are all better soon Richard, and once out of pain then you might not be talking about retirement any time soon. I gotta agree about how much beautiful music you have out in the atmosphere at this point - prolific, in my book. If anyone has a right to take a break ... haha Happy R&R for now. Maybe switch to keyboards for a while!

Thank you, Delores. I don't think I could ever really "retire" in the traditional sense of the word but I do want to take a long relaxing break and recharge my batteries so to speak. I need a change of scenery and a change of pace. My wife and I haven't had a nice vacation in a long while.
