Lend me your ears!
Fellow musicians and songwriters - please go for regular ear checkups! Recently I’ve been experiencing a little hearing loss but I thought maybe I had a head cold. Over the course of the last few days I lost about 60% of my hearing, unable to hear the TV even at very loud levels.
I was so freaked out I went to the emergency room tonight and It turned out that I had impacted ear wax in both ears. They flushed out both ears and the sudden rush of sound that entered my ears was orgasmic!!
From now on I’m going for regular ear check ups!
I urge everybody to do the same.

I got his from the pharmacist.
Just apply to 2 to 3 drops of Hydrogen Peroxide into your ear once a month using the drop counter, then let it stew for 15 minutes. After that is done, flush it out.
It works for me.

I've been there. I wish a quick fix like that could be applied to my damned tinnitus.

Mike- have you tried hearing aids? They can mask tinnitus and improve hearing. Also: a prescription drug called gabapentin has been shown to reduce tinnitus substantially as well as helping you sleep. The drug is non-addictive
and very safe. Good luck!

I haven't yet, I admit. I will be going for a hearing test in the near future so we'll see how far that goes.

I struggle on and off with plugged ears and I am dealing with it right now and its pretty annoying. I have an ear wax removal drops solution that works pretty well that I got OTC. I might try Norms maintenance advice of hydrogen peroxide.
Glad to "hear" your ears are back on track, pun intended.

The best OTC product for ear wax removal is Debrox. But trust me when I say a professional ear cleaning by an ear doctor is the safest and most effective method. Once ear wax hardens, self cleaning is useless and potentially harmful if over done. If you are experiencing decreased hearing due to ear wax, the wax is most likely impacted (very hard) and pressing up against the ear drum. This can cause all kinds of problems. Get thee to a doctor! (Q-tips only push the wax deeper into the ear canal) Don’t use them!

And one day after this thread was created I got a wax blockage in my right ear! It's the time of year when more is produce to protect the inner ear from the cold.
