Urban Symphony (new song)
I hope you enjoy my latest creation. In an effort to neither raise nor lower expectations I'll refrain from describing it as anything other than a Classical/Urban instrumental (for a film perhaps?) and let you judge it without preconceptions. I'll be entering it in the Classical genre for lack of a more appropriate place to put this hybrid piece. It was fun doing something outside my comfort zone. Please dig my earth.

Are you looking for critique, or suggestions?
As a critique:
This is very well-conceived with some very cool ideas laid out. I love some of the secondary and counter-melodies. Really well-written, as well.
As a suggestion:
I would love to hear some more layering of instruments... making it denser. Expand that arrangement a bit, as far as the actual instruments are concerned. The street noises are cool, but could you use those samples and trigger them with MIDI, to actually use some of them AS a melody?
I always feel funny giving suggestions about a piece, because I don't know your intent. And, a lot of the times, the piece is finished. Also, I know how it feels receiving suggestions on a finished piece. And you're right, I am an asshole sometimes!!!
;-)
Anyway, back to critique: I think that the sparseness does contributes to the Urban feel of the piece. And, really, I give you major kudos for venturing so far outside of your comfort zone. This is a huge step for you, I know. Especially since you are already so well-versed in so much musically.
I would love to hear more like this. And, hopefully, you'll be able to take my suggestions and maybe keep something like that in mind (if not the actual idea, itself) for another attempt.
You are a very talented guy, Richard. And I always look forward to hearing what you have up your sleeve next!

Todd - You are not an asshole! I appreciate your comments and suggestions regardless of what my intent is. Sometimes less is more, sometimes it isn't. We'll see. Thank you for your kind praise and thank you for adding the song to your "The Good Stuff 4U" station!!!! I really appreciate it.
I'd to also thank the station managers of "Large Tunes" and "Rhythm And Thyme" for adding the song
to their stations.

Nice composition!! Love the midi piano part, once it starts doing the faster sections, the fact that it's a sample (and sequenced) adds to the "urban" quality. I also love the string parts that come between the "crowd ambience" noises.
I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but by half way through I was hooked, and by the end I wanted to listen again! Great!

Thank you so much, Will. I enjoyed checking out your page too. Magic Bracelets is one of my favs. It has a cool Van Morrison vibe to it. You have a nice collection of well produced melodic stuff. Welcome back!
Rose - Thank you for your kind words. I enjoyed your song "Woman Of Mine" very much. You have a classic rock voice that is touching and it's a very moving song too. I look forward to hearing more of our songs. Two songs is such a tease! (lol)

Badass. This is one of my favs of yours for sure Rich. I really dig how you mix different elements and beats together, makes things unique and keeps them fresh. This reminds me a little of the Doom 2 soundrack... which is, well, badass. :)
Nice job dude!

Coming from you, that means a lot to me, Jesse. Your edgy work makes me work harder. I'm a fan of your music all the way "down the line".
