McCain Lieberman could win this..
not because they'll get more votes, but because they'll get enough that tactics like this

http://www.gregpalast.com/obama-doesn%E2%80%99t-sweat-he-should/

will tip the scales.

Really, I think Lieberman should have been thrown the hell out of the Democratic party a year ago, the fucking guy has stabbed the party in the back consistently.

McCain is obviously mentally impaired, I don't understand haw he gets a pass on the outrageous stuff he says while Obama is under the microscope. A recent media survey of the top 3 news outlets showed that 24% or McCain coverage was critical while 76% of Obama coverage was critical.

What we will get in this scenario is a presidency run from the VPs office (again).
This whole Georgia Russia scenario is creepy as hell. Why does no one mention that it was Georgia that just Invaded Ossetia!!!, they started this aggression and I cant imagine they would have the balls to poke the Bear if they hadn't gotten the nod from the US. and now it's being covered like Russia invaded Georgia unprovoked..
and McCain is being touted as "the guy who will stand against Russia"
fuck
There are rediculous Op Ed pieces in the goddam politics section of CNN today that are just making shit up!
This is the card the GOP had up their sleeve.
Provoke a war in an area that the public doesn't understand, and area that coincidentally sits on the worlds second largest oil reserve.. and play it of ass McCain the courageous Cowboy vs Obama the pacifist ...

I'm telling you, with the media behind McCain on this the the states purging Democratic voters by the hundreds of thousands, and we're going to have another 8 years of Imperial Oil Policy...
Obama doesn't have a chance in hell against this...

I'll still vote for him (Obama) and support him and knock on doors and whatever, but I think this election is Stolen from this day forth.

The thread is still on recent topics page. We try to keep it so the front page isn't wall to wall political topics and that one was getting a bit nasty so I moved that one.

We have moderator tools which allow us to remove threads from front page or recent topics or both. We rarely ever delete anything, just go to the bloggers page or bookmark the threads, they are still there. Bloggers themselves can delete their blogs though.

That's fair enough Toby.

It would be comforting to see some of the "left" leaning threads treated in the same manner. (by you know who).

I frequently see 3 of his threads on the front page.

Meanwhile any "right leaning" threads - just one thread - is aced off the front page. Twice I've seen that happen.

In the interest of fair play and equal say of course.

Never... First, Lieberman quit the democratic Party over two years ago, he is now an independent. Second, to state the liberal dominated media is behind McCain over Obama is a stretch...a large one.

If this was some conspiracy and Georgia was playing the Puppet, it would be better to do this in October , not when the olympics were starting and most of the world is not paying attention. This will be a distant memory come November.

Jeff, if he left the party then why does he still caucus with the Democrats?

thats what I'm talking about, that should have been put to a stop the moment he declared as an independent.

Liberal Dominated Media...

heh...HA HA HA HA!!!

thats a hoot.

Have you heard any major media outlet discuss the fact the Georgia Invaded Ossetia, killing perhaps a thousand civilians?
that seem like a key point in this...
Or have you heard any thoughtful discussion about the Caspian Oil Reserve and why exactly this part of the globe is so hotly contested?

hmmmm.....I guess the "liberal dominated media" has been to busy with other things..

You seriously think conservatives dominate our nations newspapers and news networks? really? Our Universities? Hollywood? Bueller?....

You have some pretty detailed info there Never, I don't believe you are lacking in your Info. However slanted it may be...make no mistake there is a slant on both sides, being reasonably moderate does not sell copy or get tv ratings.

I don't dispute what you are saying, just your assertion about the media.

Info on this conflict is out there. Just google it, or see the Wikipedia article on Ossetia (which I've already posted a link to, and no one has refuted any of). It is as nevernever said. The Russkies have a vested interest in Ossetia and Abkhazia because of their majority ethnic populations there, and they controlled the region for hundreds of years, until the Soviet breakup. To them, it's as if Mexico were claiming Texas. Of course they want to weaken Saakashvili, he's an idiot who's trying to use a Western alliance for his own enhancement. The guy just over-reached, trying to take control militarily over Ossetia, which has been disputed between Georgia and Russia ever since the Soviets collapsed. Research it.

Interestingly enough- Joe Stalin was Georgian, not Russian. I still haven't figured out how that is relevant to the current conflict.

Stalin also showed Hitler a thing or two about the "swarthy man's" supposed inferiority.

I thought that the Democratic Party abandoned Lieberman, their 2000 VP candidate, and backed another guy in the primary for his Senate seat in 2006. Then Lieberman ran anyway as an independent and won re-election. He caucuses with the Dems and without that they would not have been able to organize the current Senate.

The term "liberal" is a way over-used tag ... especially when it comes to describing the media ... I haven't turned on a T.V. set in over 8 years now ... and mostly it's because of the T.V. media ... and it's NOT because they are liberal ... they are a controlled outlet source for pure garbage ...

Back to "Liberal" ... anything that right wing egotistical conservatives see as not falling in line with their "holier than thou" attitude gets a "liberal" tag ... Well 9 times out of ten you could just replace the word "liberal" with Smart or Creative or Beautiful ....
All of the beautiful things in the world come from things that Conservatives label "Liberal" ...

I could make this a contest and say let's make a list and compare ... but I'll just make it easy on you ...
I hereby issue you a challenge ... name me "ONE" good Idea that has come from the mouth of a Right Winger ... that has enhanced the world ... you know, made it a better place ... or done something Good for someone other than themselves ...

""I thought that the Democratic Party abandoned Lieberman, their 2000 VP candidate, and backed another guy in the primary for his Senate seat in 2006.""
\
true, because he abandoned the party himself and was an idiolgical turncoat and Iraq War supporter who knowingly lied to his consituency about our involvement.
When he was running against Lamont he told us that 1/2 of our troops would be home in a year, the war was all but won..Of course weeks after he won he was all about sending another 30,000 troops.
The staged Visit he and McCain did to show us how stable Iraq was cost millions in security and cost some of those market vendors their lives for paticipoating in such obvious propaganda. Lieberman lost our support when he became an outspoken proponent of this insane war policy...
He's not an Organizing force in senate, if his vote cannot be counted on then he's just using the Term "Democrat" and his position makes him privy to policy and strategy that his voting record indicates he is willfully undermining.

He's been running with John McCain for years now.
That is a pretty big step off the Democratic party line, and In my opinion he was FAR to weak in contesting the Presidential Election results and speaking on behalf of his party and our Candidate when Jeb and his minions stole the Goddamn election from he and Gore.

Lieberman is snake in the grass,

Thanks for your perspective on that. It's a side I haven't really heard and it certainly is food for thought.

I think it's great to see strong opinions well reasoned and presented with flair. It adds a lot to the appeal of the Pipeline!

well..It's kind of you to say so Dave!

:-)

I agree, these things should be discussed and reasoned and I'm glad you see that as a legitimate use of this forum!

And I know I get a little worked up sometimes, Jeff was commenting on all the F-Bombs, and he has a point, I forget that I'm perhaps in more polite company than is my usual habit..

:-)

Peace.

Since he contributes to the vast majority of the political threads here, I would be hoping and expecting you would be.
