sorry....
I'm fucking losing my mind this week.
sorry if I got any on ya,
I wont bore you with the details..
I really mean what I say, but I dont mean it in the way I end up saying it.
If you could have a drink with me, or just hang out and play guitars I think, I hope, you would find me to be a very different person than the ass I come across as on these forums somtimes.
warmest wishes,
truly
P.

No worries, we all have those days...and I share your frustration...some days I think what is the point? Then I remember the point is I can make music and I love doing it.I wish things were different, things were more vibrant, and we could all be on stage sharing it with the masses.
I think if we were all in the same room, with some guitars, and a few brews it would be a great time for all.
It was a good conversation, I know you are a good guy at heart. If I did not know that I probably would have stayed away from the thread.
Later dude...

It's ok Frater. You just express yourself with a lot of fire and it comes out forcefully at times. Maybe you've got some stuff bottled up. But you are an interesting person, brutally honest about what's on your mind, obviously intelligent, and I love your music. There is nothing bland or mediocre about you that's for sure. LOL :-) deb

Frater you are just a passionate person. And you bring that dynamic and fire in your belly to us in word and display it in your music as well, ......as for saying things and then looking back and thinking I should have maybe said that differently, I have done the same, even recently as yesterday, so you can see I do, and have done the same, some of those things you stated are true, and you have legitimate concerns about the matters you brought forward, and we thank you for bringing that to the table, there is nothing wrong with that.interaction and discussion are heathly, you never know what may result out of it.........
as a side note in my spare time I am reading a book by Steve Gordon which you all may have read already
The Future of the Music Business
2nd edition, published by Hal Leonard
ISBN 978-1-4234-5445-8
FWIW
well back to fixing up this old beater of a house this morning, then teach, and do a bit of promo.

frater - You made very intelligent and honest observations. I didn't agree with all of it but I did agree with much of it. More importantly I found the whole discussion very interesting and I read every word of it. I don't think you crossed the line at all and you have nothing to apologize for (imo) Being passionate about something is not the same as nasty ranting, so don't apologize for being passionate about what you believe. The other thing you have to remember is almost nothing we write on the blogs is interpreted exactly the way we want it to be by every person. Tone of voice, body language, facial expressions are all absent here and because of that we don't get all the necessary nuances that shape the meaning and intent of what is written. Don't beat yourself up over it and don't stop being honest and passionate.
I urge you and everyone else here to read a new book called "You Are Not A Gadget: A Manifesto by Jaron Lanier. As the intellectual I know you are, I'm sure you will enjoy this book by an author who is a Silicon Valley visionary and the father of virtual reality technology. And he's also a musician! It's a cautionary tale about the way technology is transforming our lives for better and for worse. There are large sections devoted to the plight of musicians trying to make a living online, the role of file sharing in the destruction of the artistic middle class and much more.
Here's an excerpt: "music created in the industrialized world in the decade from the late 1990's to the late 2000s doesn't have a distinct style, one that would provide an identity for the young people who grew up with it. The process of the reinvention of life through music appears to have stopped. Blankness and musical stasis has become the new normal."
PLEASE read this book! It is published by Alfred A. Knopf. It has tons of insights about music and the internet and the dangers of "hive" thinking.

I'll never forgive you for the damage you didn't cause my psyche.
I haven't been this hurt since my last massage.
I wish I could get over it, but this is the net, so I take everything personally and every word uttered goes straight through my ears out the other side ... and rarely stops in between.
Besides that, you were dead right, and that really pisses me off.
Listen asswipe, next time you go about spouting off the truth, you just think of all the starving kids in the world and if that doesn't make you want to send money to Haiti, nothing will.
Damn it all!

I'm sorry, too. Really, I am, I'm sorry.
I'm sooo sorry not to see my "new" tune on the Hitline today.
It's very discouraging.

DOH~!
your posts are fuckin' worth reading.
Keep on keepin' on, man.
Honestly, I've seen a lot of GREAT Artists in Tucson, give up their craft, for want of overcoming the crunch from this economy...
I don't think that's the answer.
That's when you gotta poor it on harder for your dreams.
We never know when the ability/freedom to create music will be taken from us.
