Long Time Gone 2.0
Those of you who were here when I first joined IAC back in 2008 probably remember this old thing. It's been completely reworked and finally done justice... like restoring an old car you found at the junkyard. This was the first song I wrote after moving to Indiana. I can finally say it is a finished product. :)

hi jesse,
you really brought it on this song, clickin' on all cylinders, really like the diverse backing and the guitars.
here's m'station comments...rawk...
'wow, a spacious, grand vibe to this, alittle outside m'usual, but transcends the genre stuff, rhythmic, elaborate, bold, like the new takeoff midway through, kudos... '

Thanks Steve! Glad you like it. It definitely took some work bringing it up to speed. I guess I've come a long way in five years. Thanks for the station add! :)

I've added the song to my all instrumental station: "Instrumentally Yours".
I gravitate to songs that have been "slow cooked". Very tasty.

Richard, I thought of that ..... you had posted a month or so back about returning to songs of yore. I'm not familiar with the first version of this one, but from this result it backs you up on the value of redo-ing stuff!

This is really a fine piece of music! Outstanding guitar work and a very pleasing sound scape. I love how your moves into a raunchy contrast with that guttural grit. Makes me want to go back and redo some of my own stuff. Loved It!
Much Respect

The original version is pretty awful compared to this one. In this case I've upgraded a decent amount of gear and learned a lot since then so I was able to redo some things MUCH better this time around, mainly the drums. I also mixed it in Cubase instead of my Boss and added a bunch of new keys, and even did some audio editing to make up for a lack of execution in the guitar tracks. So I was kind of able to take everything I'd learned in the past five years and apply it to a whole new version... almost. I used all the original tracks except for drums and the new keys.
But I'm drawing on Shoe City's point about Rich's point that certain songs mold themselves into finality over time, at least for me... but usually it's a few months, not years, haha.
Nils Rurack on lead for the solo btw.
