I'm talking about myself again...
Hello there. My names is Jesse and this here is my first blog. Not sure where to start or even what to talk about, so I'll just start from the beginning.
I've always been interested in music ever since I can remember. When I was little I used to always get into any instruments lying about, drums or pianos or guitars. But the first time I was serious about learning to play was shortly after my 13th birthday. My father was playing guitar in the basement and I asked him to teach me some chords. The rest, as they say, is history. That's cheesy I know but it's true.
About a year later I was fortunate enough to acquire a drum set. My family was surprised how immediate I seemed to excel at playing them. It just seemed natural to me. Shortly after that I believe was when my father brought home the Roland XP-50. For those of you who don't know this was a pretty powerful keyboard workstation at the time. I still use it to this day as a matter of fact. This keyboard is what first inspired my journey into electronic music, particularly beats.
After learning to play guitar and drums for a couple of years, I drifted away from them and focused on electronic stuff. I got really into hip-hop, and for many years didn't play guitar or drums at all. I bought sequencers and samplers, made beats, wrote rhymes and performed at local bars as a hip-hop artist. I also recorded several demos and was constantly making new beats.
But after a few years I lost interest. Hip-hop was changing and started to become something I no longer wished to participate in. Then as quickly as I got into it, I dropped it all together. I started playing guitar and drums again, started listening to my rock albums again and more recently have broadened that taste into metal as well.
My music is influenced from everything really, especially emotion. I just love to play and it will always be an integral part of my being regardless of success or not. I feel I've come a long way since those first days in my basement 13 years ago, but have a long ways to go as there is always something to learn and improve upon. I just hope you guys enjoy the music as much as I do.
Jesse
